Introversion Software and Ambrosia Software have announced a planned long freeplay weekend for DEFCON to coincide with the Penny Arcade Expo. The event will begin on August 24 and run until August 27, during which time the game will be free for all to play. Says Vicky Arundel, head of marketing at Introversion:

“DEFCON is a great game and this will be a fantastic opportunity for those who haven’t yet played it to have a go. We’re really looking forward to welcoming some newcomers to the DEFCON community and hope that this taster will leave you wanting to come back again.”

To partake in the freeplay weekend, simply head over to this site and download the free demo. Once the event begins, all the usual demo restrictions will be lifted for that limited time.

    Crack. This game is crack.

This and Darwinia are so freaking good.

Now that I read Steve’s comment, I’m nervous to try this game out. I get easily addicted to good games and I don’t want years of my life to flash by due to another game (*cough* WoW *cough*)
