Dead Rising on the Wii Gets a Title, Less Zombies

I shouldn’t really be surprised that Capcom is porting Dead Rising over to the Wii; if there’s a successful game that can be ported anywhere, you can bet they’ll do it. Well now they’ve announced a new title for the port will be (dun dun dun dunnnn!) “Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop.” This being a Wii title, you can probably expect a lot of waggle controls for melee weapons and Wii-mote aiming for the firearms. I wasn’t sure how a game featuring hordes of roaming zombies could even be handled on the Wii’s hardware. These new screenshots from the game reveal how though: scale back the graphics and cut the number of zombies in half. Maybe that’s what the new title indicates was “chopped.”

Fewer zombies won’t be a problem if they make them move a little faster. Honestly, the 360 version had way too many zombies. It was total overkill. Also, the massive amount of pop-in in the court yard was a big problem. Hopefully with fewer zombies, this will be less noticeable.
Having read about all the changes that will be made, I really think this game has the potential to be better than the original if they don’t cheap out on fixing all the issues in the first one.
“Nintendo’s position in 3rd place in the Console Wars is cemented further by this game”
*chuckle* Third. Heheh. Makes me laugh. Really, it does. Take a look at sales my friend. It’ll blow your mind and rock your world.
