Dead or Alive: The Movie Is a Box Office Failure

Maybe this is just a good movie for people who love terrible movies. You know, the ones who have the DVD collection with three copies of Dead Alive and Mallrats.
Unfortunately, I think there are about fifteen people out there like that, and apparently they don’t go to the movies.
The box office was not kind to DOA:Dead or Alive this weekend, the movie based on the video game of the same name. On its opening weekend it didn’t even make it to the bottom of the top 10, but this isn’t shocking after reading what the critics had to say.
According to Box Office Guru, the film generated about $232,000 from 505 theaters last weekend, making for an average of about $460 per theater.
Chalk up another video-game to movie failure.

I want to support hollywood or whoever-the-hell can do it, in making films based on video games… but at the same time I’m supporting the stupid way in which they go about doing it.
I firmly believe that if these hack directors would stop trying to put their “artistic license” on something with which everyone is already comfortably familiar with, I think they’d start doing a little better.
I don’t care of Steven Spielberg or, I dunno… the guy who did Gladiator, etc… makes the movie, if they don’t follow the already well-established story-line, faces, vehicles, etc., people won’t be so dissapointed.
Stop sucking hollywood… seriously, you’re becoming like the sci-fi channel with their weekly “originals”…*sigh*…Ice Spiders? *ugh*
[EDIT]
“they don’t follow the already well-established story-line, faces, vehicles, etc., people won’t be so dissapointed.”
Sorry, typo there… if they DID follow the already well-established, etc… then people WON’T be dissapointed.
It’s been out on DVD for months, why on earth would they put it in the Cinema for a second run? Of course it would fail; why pay £5 to see it in the Cinema when you can rent it for £1.
