DC Comics and Sierra have announced that they will be bringing a comic bok series to the market based on the upcoming Prototype video game. The book will be published under DC’s Wildstorm label and will expand on the story of Alex Mercer, an anti-hero who gains strange powers as the result of a government experiment.
“We’re blown away with what Sierra and developer Radical Entertainment have shown us of PROTOTYPE, and know with absolute certainty that this will make for a terrific comic book,” said Hank Kanalz, VP & General Manager, WildStorm. “PROTOTYPE’s back-story, visuals and gameplay are stunning, and we have every intention of bringing those core pillars to our book because this is a great opportunity to expand on the world they’ve created, and build something new and interesting for comics fans.”
No word yet on specifically who will be working on this book, but past game-to-comic adaptations have turned out pretty well, so we’ll have to see.

Marvel should own the character name Prototype from the old Malibu/Ultraforce days. I wonder how long til they sue on this one.
Marvel can’t own a word and sue. Prototype is a general word used for lots of things. Prototype isn’t the characters name. It’s Alex Mercer. And he is a Prototype. Marvel is a bunch of idiots if they sue on this one.
