Crysis Alien Rock

I can hear a million PC gamers shouting “Boo!” already. It is with much regret that I inform my fellow PC gamers that the Crysis demo scheduled for September 25th release is now pushed back a month. The news itself heralds from Crytek’s very own, Cevat Yerli:

First, I am sorry for the bad news - the Crysis single player demo will now be available everywhere on October 26th, 2007. We are taking some extra time to make sure you that you have an amazing experience but also we did not want to risk the release date of Crysis at this stage. To get the game into your hands by November the 16th, we had to make this call.

Now the good news - the big surprise. The SP demo will be released with our CryEngine 2 - Sandbox 2 game editor, giving the community the opportunity to get familiar with the vast amount of tools they will have at their disposal four weeks before we ship, something we have always wanted to do.

Somehow, I don’t think sharing news of inclusion of a new Sandbox Editor will cushion this devastating blow. One has to wonder if the launch of Halo 3 on September 25th had some influence on Crytek’s (or EA’s) decision? For now it looks like those enjoying the ongoing Crysis beta will have exclusivity for a month. You lucky SoBs…

WHAT??? You think a demo FOR THE PC was delayed because of Halo 3 being released on THE 360????

Not seriously. But, there’s always that “what if” that creeps in the back of my mind.

Just because they aren’t on the same platform doesn’t mean one can’t steal the other’s thunder away.

  3. Daniel says:

@Norbit: Why is that idea so far fetched? Whether you like it or not, a good majority of the gaming world will be plopped down in front of an Xbox 360 playing Halo 3 on Sept. 25th.

And for those of you who plan on commenting on what I said, I made sure to select my words very carefully. I said a good MAJORITY. So no need for the “Not me! You suck!” comments.

  4. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

At least I’m in the beta…

    *has beta key*

Simply put, i think its 50% the halo release (think: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. came out same day as Oblivion….nobody heard about it for almost a year though…
Remember Half-Life 2 came out near same as Far Cry? Far cry was extremely good but lost so much revenue because of HL2.
The other 50% is from the mere WEEK of Beta testing, seeing just how demanding it is. I have Intel dual 2.14 C2D with 3gb ram and an 8600gt and I can only run it on medium at 1280×960 with 30fps. They just need to optimize a lil more and you will see its gonna be worth it. Let the kiddie-box(360) fans have a month cause ima be on DX10 and SLI by then….

What planet are you living on, HL2 was released ages after Far Cry plus Far Cry made a lot of money.

  8. Crysis is the halo 3 of the PC says:

    I have a
    amd 3500
    2gigs ram
    ati x1950pro
    24 inch 1080p

and i can run UT3 demo in highest quality and 1080p at 60 fps
so i think i can handle Crysis in highest quality
