I don’t think its meant to draw people to buy the games, Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 will sell themselves(with probably the most sales of any game so far).

I think it’s not particularly “good” idea as it’ll lead to more jack@$$es going; “OMG I’m 1337 look at my score!” At the same time I do think it’s a cool idea. Not exactly a buying decision or anything, but a cool feature none the less. Seems to me like it’s more a pull off EQ or SWG to me, but eh.

I agree attaching them to Steam would be a good idea. I mean, what’s the downside? Already you have an established system and community, it’s no longer limited merely to Blizzard games, you get the whole auto updates and Steam overlay thing going on. Just seems better than having a seperate account solely for Blizzard. I’m sure if they wanted some Blizzard-only point system, they could figure out a way to track that too.

Achievements wouldn’t want me to buy the game. They don’t give me anything extra. Why are achievements so great?

lawl. GFW should never touch or get remotely near Blizzard and it probably wont. Although im a huge fan of steam I dont think it should touch Blizzard either. Blizzard has been my homeboy since I first started gaming with d2, sc, and wc3. They have all the right things in their company and I’d love to see them step out of the shell on their own.

I’d say it would be better plugged into Steam, but if they could get Microsoft to agree to a gamerscore only deal, which they wouldn’t be able to, then it’d be good.

No, it wouldn’t be better if it were plugged into Live. That would make no sense, as I’d assume a good, very large proportion of WoW/SC/Diablo players do not own 360’s, thus do not have Live.

Blizzard having their own achievement system for their own games is a good idea.
(Even if the WoW achievement system is just a cheap knock-off of WAR’s Tome of Knowledge)
