Real Time Worlds won the top award for innovation at the Develop Conference in Brighton, UK for their work on Crackdown, the Xbox 360 exclusive title. Crackdown received mixed reviews throughout the gaming community, but was in fact a very original game. I’m sure with the success of Crackdown, we will probably see a sequel in the near future.

Michael French, Editor of Develop Magazine had this to say…

“The fact that no one company dominated the awards this year shows what a diverse range of talent this industry boasts,”…

“It’s been a brilliant year for games, with new hardware allowing developers to really stretch their imagination with new ways to play – so competition for these prestigious awards has been fiercer than ever.”

I’ll admit, I was dubious about the quality of Crackdown. But having spent most of the last couple of weeks playing jumping around – I’m delighted to see Crackdown recognized as one of the best games so far this year.

what was so innovative about a game that copies everything from any other game?

I’ll say it like this “Halo 3 beta only 59.99, includes free copy of Crackdown”

I’ll be honest, Crackdown did not hold my attention long, but it was definitely a different game.
