Console Wars: Projections for Japan Place the Xbox 360 in Last

Xbots beware: Japan is not your friend.
The console wars are comical at best, but it’s always interesting to get a glimpse at who’s in the “lead.” According to a report by the market research firm DFC Intelligence, the Wii could become the worldwide leader in consoles, with the PlayStation 3 possibly even coming in second.
But as for Japan, the Xbox 360 is looking to come in last. The drop has been caused by the issues with the 360 outside of North America, and consumers are becoming unfriendly.
What is a surprise is that PC games are given an optimistic forecast with an 80 percent growth rate over the next five years. Apparently, more and more people around the world are catching up and the PC is almost as commonplace as the television.

Stop the presses! The 360 will be last in Japan!
ah man that black wii looks awesome
I’m still sure the PS3 will outsell the Wii everywhere for the simple reason that it will still be on sale years after the Wii has been replaced.
i doubt the PS3 will sell more than the Wii, The will Wii already sold more than the Xbox 360 and the PS3. the Wii is for everyone. Wii is #1 for a reason and will be for a long time.
“doubt the PS3 will sell more than the Wii, The will Wii already sold more than the Xbox 360 and the PS3. the Wii is for everyone. Wii is #1 for a reason and will be for a long time.”
But how long? 5 years? The PS3 will almost definitely be on sale for 10 years, long after the Wii is forgotten.
If it does sell more than the Wii, it will be 10 years or so, too bad the average life span of a console is only 5 years. After 5 years Nintendo will have a “New” Hi-def Wii, and it will be on par with the PS3 and Xbox 360. Nintendo will and always will own the Game industary. And i say this as a Xbox 360 fan. 10 years is a long time, A decade is a long time PS1 to now? thats too long.

WTF????? Normal consoles certainly, not PlayStation’s. Sony operate a completely different strategy to other companies. They release a console for the long haul not for the ‘right now’. Thats how they have sold more home consoles in 13 years than Nintendo have in 30 (Nintendo: 115m since Color TV Game released in 1977. Sony: 227m since Playstation released in 1994).
The average lifespan of the PlayStation is currently 9.6 years going by the PS1 and PS2. That is of course increasing every day seeing a the PS2 is still selling shit loads and according to Sony it will be supported for at least a couple more years.
PS1: Released December 3, 1994. Ceased production March 23, 2006 (134 months lifespan)
PS2: Released March 4, 2000. Still going strong 7 years later. (90 month life so far)
And remember, the PS3 is selling faster than both of those did.
Sorry, that should have said 175m for Nintendo not 115m (stupid typos
)
