Well…with the exception of idiots like GTA GOD there… you people make some very good points.

My personal thoughts…She wants to gain favor from parents and other idiots who cant take responsibility for themselves while still being able to play the game freely herself. Using a statement like this lets her “test” the game to find this “scene” while still making her look like a messiah to all the video game activists out there.

Rockstar should sue her for slander. If I were them I would make it an extremely trivial amount just to make a case out of her. “Look here America, it doesnt matter who or what you are, if you blatantly lie about us and diminish our reputation, it is your reputation that suffers not ours. Oh and thanks for raising our sales with all the free publicity.”

by the way, please ignore my horrible punctuation and run-on sentences. when i rant at something i usually throw my grammar rules out the window.

also, i understand that a certain numbers of teens did go out and shoot people/police officers and rob banks from one time to another that blamed their actions on playing violent games like GTA. but then you have to take into consideration that they might just be looking for some bull way out of life in jail. think of it as a less obvious Twinkie defense (fairly widely known but look it up if you don’t).

i’m not quite too sure why people do this sort of stuff; is it to gain popularity from overly concerned parents? is it because they just hate these games? or is it because they actually believe that a video game can cause a kid to become a psychopath who runs around flaunting his Russian accent and shooting random people on the street? in any case, there really isn’t any proof that a video game can cause any really serious psychological changes in the minds of perfectly normal teens and children (teens in this case since blood and shooting isn’t appropriate for children i guess). the only exceptions to this would probably be the easily influenced(they exist, otherwise weird cults wouldn’t) or the mentally unsound. if children were influenced by the videogame then it’d also be possible to say that violent movies or radio programs or books would also cause a normal kid to suddenly go on a homicidal rampage through his town. Hell, some kids can’t even drive properly outside of a video game! (i know this because i’m still trying to learn how to drive…) if reading the lord of the flies causes kids to become cultist murderers then why haven’t i heard of it yet? (if it does then screw me). why would anyone be angered at a game? sure you kill people but an ambulance arrives a few seconds later and revives them, quite possibly it strips the teen of any rational responsibility but then what kind of teen who drives like most people do when playing GTA deserves to be called “responsible”?
