Condemned Movie Director Confirmed

Sega’s Condemned: Criminal Origins is a hidden classic. Summarily praised by critics and then ignored by most of the gaming population, it certainly deserves more praise than it has seen. For those of you Xbox folks, you can go download the demo to get the gist of just how downright frightening this game truly is.
The game basically plays like any horror-crime movie, so it stands to reason that a movie adaptation would be the next big step. Well, it seems we are one step closer to that, as the director has just been named for the upcoming film. Director Tarsem Singh certainly seems an interesting choice, as his previous work is anything but commercial. You might have seen his horror-crime skills in the movie “The Cellâ€, or his dark humor in REM’s “Losing My Religion†music video.
The Condemned movie is going to be called “The Unforgettableâ€, and seems to just lightly touch on the gaming source material. That might be for the best, as most direct game/movie adaptations tend to be awful. If nothing else, this added publicity may just convince Sega to come out with a true sequel for this secretly awesome title.

This is an interesting angle to take on a game to movie translation. Maybe straying a bit from the source material and naming it something different will allow them to add enough original material that make a decent movie.
