CompUSA Stores Shutting Their Doors for Good

Rumors about CompUSA’s impending demise have been floating around for awhile now, but it seems those rumors have now been confirmed. The electronics chain was purchased by the Gordon Brothers Group, a restructuring and investment firm. The group plans to keep the remaining 103 stores open through the holidays, while offering discounts on merchandise. After that, they’ll start looking at slowly liquidating everything. They’re already working on dismantling CompUSA.com and the chain’s technical services business, as well as select store locations.
Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve even seen a CompUSA in years. Now I’m tempted to seek one out though, if nothing else than for the insane deals that are sure to surface near the end of the chain’s life.

I wouldn’t bother… when they shut down the one near me earlier this year I had customers coming to my place telling me we had lower prices than the CompUSA “50% off” merch.
