“Commandos” Developers Directing Animated Film for New Line

Jorge Blanco, Javier Abad, and Marcos Martinez — who all worked on the Commandos video game series — have been picked up to direct a new animated film for New Line. The movie, Planet 51, was recently licensed by New Line from the Ilion Animation Studio for $60 million. The script, written by Shrek writer Joe Stillman, centers around an astronaut who crash lands on an alien planet whose inhabitants live in fear of an alien invasion. Believing him to be an invader, the astronaut must hide from his pursuers to recover his space ship and return home to Earth. The movie is expected to release in March of 2009.
