A recent article in the New York Times revealed that Nintendo’s two reigning consoles may soon be more integrated with each other. Most of the article discussed the usual “the-Wii-and-DS-are-selling-like-crazy-yay-for-Nintendo” sort of spiel. But there was one little nugget of information that piqued the interest of many Nintendo supporters:
Mr. Fils-Amie said that future DS device will be more tightly integrated with its Wii console. Complete games as well as game samplers will be able to be downloaded into the Wii using its broadband connection, and then transferred wirelessly to the DS.
Note the word, “complete.” Japan has had access to a service allowing people to download demos and such for DS games, but this is the first time anyone has officially mentioned download whole games themselves. Just one step closer to being able to download games directly from your handheld hopefully.
