NCsoft Has announced that the main attraction planned for the Chapter 13: Architect update for City of Heroes has been pushed back to Chapter 14. According to Lead Designer Matt “Positron” Miller, the decision was made to give the development team time to incorporate a new feature for the mission creator.
“It became apparent that you guys really want this feature, but in order to fully realize your dreams of writing your own missions you need creative control in one more key area: The ability to create “customized” characters to fight with or against in your missions. Adding custom characters has always been on our Mission Architect feature list, but we had considered it a “stretch goal.” That is, we could launch the system without this feature because our confidence was high that the rest of the system was incredibly robust.”
Rather than release the Architect without character creation, the team has decided to hold off until they can include it at launch. Chapter 13 renamed Power and Responsibility will be released this Fall while Chapter 14: Architect is due out Winter 2009.
The other major update, the new Day Job system, is still slated to be released with Chapter 13. Those of you who missed previous coverage can get the full detail on the City of Heroes website.
It’s good to see that the City of Heroes team is listening to its players. A short delay isn’t going to cause too much of a ruckus since fans are getting what they want. After all the key to the MMO is the Heroes and Villains, not missions and settings.

Winter 2009 is a small delay or a typo?
No typo.. Winter is Dec-March 2009
So it isn’t as far away as you’d think.
This game is laym, btw.
