Champions Online Meet the Team Introduces Ben Foxworthy

Cryptic’s latest Meet the Team article for Champions Online introduces Ben Foxworthy, the newest programmer on the mission team. Foxworthy is fresh out of the University of California, Santa Barbara; and has been with Cryptic for a year now. He designs the missions, contacts, NPC spawning, world interaction and other cool stuff that fleshes out the game.

Foxworthy talks about the Nemesis system and gives game designer hopefuls some sage advice. Internships and opening positions are the way to get into the business, but they’re often eclipsed by the more exciting announcements of senior position openings. Have patience and be prepared to dig for that buried treasure.

Here’s one trick I learned – if you see an ad for a senior-level position on Gamasutra or some other site, go directly to that company’s web site and see what else they have. Chances are there’s an entry-level opening as well.
