The Darkness `Demon Arm` Trailer
Here’s a new trailer for the upcoming game, The Darkness, for the X-Box and PS3. In the game, you’ll play as Jackie Estacado, a Mafia hitman who has suddenly been imbued with demonic powers. The video shows off one of the powers you’ll possess: the Demon Arm. With the demon arm, you’ll be able to knock cars and people around with a swish of a tentacle. Breaking down barriers and walls can reveal new areas and secrets, and you can even use its pointy end to impale enemies.

Even if they made a game based just around having this one power, I’d still be interested in playing it. But knowing that this is only one out of several awesome-sounding powers you’ll possess is turning this into a must-play for me.

Hot Shots Tennis Gamers Day 2007 Trailer
There’s a new trailer and some screenshots up for Hot Shots Tennis, one of the few new games coming out for the PS2 this summer. Judging from the trailer, the game seems to retain a lot of the stlye and humor this franchise is known for. Personally, I’m hoping this series jumps over to the Wii. I love the motion control in Wii tennis, but I wish it had the same sort of goofy humor of this game.

City of Heroes Inventions Tutorial Video
NCsoft and Cryptic Studios have sent out this video explaining the inventions that were added to the newest expansion to City of Heroes/Villains, Issue 9: Breakthrough. It’s essentially a how-to video that shows how the new invention system works: how to get salvage, use recipes, create costume pieces, etc. The video also discusses the new auction houses briefly and points out their locations in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. This is definitely worth a look if you’re involved with this game.

Stranglehold `PS3 Collector`s Edition` Trailer (HD
Let’s talk good ideas. An example of a good idea is taking an acclaimed action movie director and getting him to make a game. An even better idea is releasing a version of that game that also contains one of that director’s best films. And that is exactly what Midway and Sony have decided to do with the collector’s edition of John Woo’s Stranglehold. Read the full article »

PaRappa The Rapper: Worst Trailer Ever

PaRappa The Rapper Gamers Day 2007 Trailer
The newest information about the next installment of PaRappa The Rapper comes in the form of a teaser trailer. How much does does this video tease you? It tells you absolutely nothing. It doesn’t even say the name, it just shows a silhouette of the famous rapping dog followed by a general release date. It’s odd that they didn’t show any game footage at all, considering this game has been out for the PSP in Japan since December. You’d think they’d want to show off a little more, since this was a popular series in the 90’s and there hasn’t been another installment in over five years; even if this is only a remake.

Also, note to aspiring filmmakers: if your video can be recreated by flipping through some colored sheets of paper at a slow pace, you need to be trying harder.

God of War: Chains of Olympus GD 2007 Trailer
Here’s a new trailer for the next installment of the God of War franchise, Chains of Olympus. This version’s coming out for the PSP, so you can rip off monsters’ heads or impale them on their own swords even while on the go. From the looks of this video — short though it may be — not much has changed in the style or action since the first installment. This is very good thing.

Syphon Filter: Logan`s Shadow GD 07 Trailer
There are new screens and trailer up for the new Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow for the PSP. This time, illustrious Gabe Logan is skipping around the world to find out if his old partner is actually a double agent. This new version will expand upon the series’ third-person action by adding more effective uses of cover, underwater shootouts, and improved melee combat. The last installment in the series received a lackluster reviews, so we’ll have to see if they’ve polished up this newest installment.

Medieval 2: Total War Kingdoms Gameplay Trailer
There’s a new trailer up that shows off the gameplay for Medieval 2: Total War Kingdoms. The video has a designer of the game taking you through the Brittania campaign, showing off the gameplay and explaining what’s going on story-wise. Initial reaction: massive armies with detailed animations are awesome. And given the usual quality of the Total War series, I’m betting the game’s going to be as much fun to play as it is to look at.

Jeanne D’Arc Trailer: French History with an Injection of Anime

Jeanne d`Arc Trailer 2
There’s a new trailer up for Jeanne D’Arc, and anime-style RPG coming out for the PSP. The game takes place in a fictitious version of French history, one that involves magic and demons. So, yeah, it’s pretty much like an anime show set in France.

And maybe it’s just the awesome music, but I really gotta give the makers of this trailer credit for making me actually interested in an anime-inspired game. It makes me wish this were an actual show. Except when the trailer first started, I could swear the narrator kept saying “omelettes” instead of “armlets.” Made me hungry.

New Heavenly Sword Trailer, Featuring the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man

Heavenly Sword Gamers Day 2007 Trailer
Here’s a new trailer for the upcoming Heavenly Sword, another one of the handful of PS3 exclusives we know about. So far though, it pretty much looks like God of War with a female lead and more acrobatics over brute strength. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but considering the flak Sony’s “little console that couldn’t” is taking lately, they could use a more original-looking title. And someone’s been watching way too much Ghostbusters, because that one bad guy is almost the spitting image of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
