srv bio header Rock Band Unplugged DLC: Little Bit Country, Little Bit Rock n RollThis week’s Rock Band Unplugged DLC is quite an eccentric mix with a little of everything from Stevie Ray Vaughan to the Dixie Chicks. All offerings are master tracks from the original artists. Harmonix is throwing in the song used as the end credits of Portal, “Still Alive” by Joathan Coulton as sung by GLaDOS, as a free download.

Tracks:

Dixie Chicks                                           “Sin Wagon”
GLaDOS and Jonathan Coulton                  “Still Alive”
The Pixies                                             “Here Comes Your Man”
R.E.M.                                                 “Losing My Religion”
Stevie Ray Vaughan                               “Pride and Joy”

All tracks, except for “Still Alive” which is free, are available for purchase for $1.99 each on the in-game Rock Band Unplugged music store.

As an aside, if you like “Still Alive” I highly recommend checking out Jonathan Coulton’s website. He specializes in comedic songs based on videogames and gaming culture. Some of our family favorite are “Re: Your Brains“, “Creepy Doll” and “Code Monkey“. A dedicated fan and World of Warcraft player, Mike Spiff Booth has made a whole series of very funny and well done WoW machinima to Coulton’s songs.

mgs 258x300 This Week On PSN: Metal Gear SolidAs if two new Metal Gear titles at E3 weren’t enough, Sony’s now bringing the undisputed champ of the Metal Gear Series to PlayStation Network. Starting today, you can grab the PS1 classic, Metal Gear Solid, for $9.99. You can even get it for your PSP!

As usual, there’s a lot of other stuff in the update. Some of it is interesting, like Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter for the PSP. Some of it is mindless, like Qore (Seriously, does anyone actually watch that?).

You can also choose the demo for EA Sports’ NCAA Football 10, as well as the usual weekly song downloads for Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Rock Band gets Spinal Tap this week, something guaranteed to make people my age smile with nostalgia.

If you want to see a full list of what’s available this week, it’s available after the break.

Many of my favorites made it to the list including The Trooper, Wasted Years, and Can I Play With Madness. There four live tracks from the Flight 666 double CD soundtrack album including Aces High and Hallowed Be Thy Name.

The Iron Maiden tracks will be available on the Xbox 360 and PS3 as singles or in the Iron Maiden Pack. Wii owners only have the option to download them individually.

I’ve been bitching about Run to the Hills not transferring to Rock Band 2 since we got the game. My kids love it too. You should hear my five year old belt it out. Finally I’m getting much more than I bargained for. For the full list of tracks, follow the jump.
