According to Gizmodo’s liveblog, Live at WWDC07, CEO of Apple Steve Jobs has announced Electronic Arts will be coming back to Apple. EA’s Co-Founder & Chief Creative Officer Bing Gordon confirms the news. Apparently his kids live on OSX.

This July will see the release of EA’s Command & Conquer 3, Battlefield 2142, Need for Speed Carbon, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix for OSX. Also mentioned were EA sports games like Madden 08 and Tiger Woods 08 for release this fall.

EA Sports revealed that Ozzy’s newly released “I Don’t Wanna Stop” will be the first song on the Madden NFL 08 soundtrack. Each year, the Madden soundtrack proves to be one of the best in gaming. The complete list of songs for the 08 soundtrack will be released in the next few weeks.

This song is on the album ‘Black Rain’, which is Osbourne’s first album release since 2001. Madden was the top selling game in North America last year, and has a great chance of repeating similar sales figures again. I usually listen to songs off my iPod while playing Madden, but I think this addition may make the game music a little more appealing for some. Ozzie has been in a bit of a slump for a couple years with Ozzfest getting worse every year, so perhaps the new album and being on Madden will give him the spark he needed. I look forward to finding out what other songs have made it to the Madden franchise this year.

LATimes has all the details on EA’s newest innovations to realistic game play. The July 17 release of NCAA Football 08 will feature real-time weather conditions. If it’s storming in Columbus, the Buckeyes will be scambling for footing. Players can play in real-time weather conditions provided by the Weather Channel, or pick their own.

Madden NFL 08 will also have it’s share of new content.

Players will be able to get real-world sports scores and “SportsCenter” radio clips from ESPN, plus video highlights from the National Football League.

Madden is slated for release August 14. Both titles will be available for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 and Sony Computer Entertainment’s PlayStation 3

Madden NFL 08 – First Video

Here is the first video for Madden NFL 08 from EA. Available for next-gen consoles, and it looks pretty good going by the video. One thing I was ecstatic about while watching it, was that not once did I hear or see John Madden. If so, I would have had to punch something. I really hate that guy.

Although it won’t be out until August, you can check out the SI preview shots for Madden 2008 today.

While the game itself is probably nothing more than some roster updates and a few tweaks (as usual), every now and then they include enough to make it worthwhile. Whether or not that’s the case this year remains to be seen.

Fight Night Round 3 Box ArtESPN goes to great lengths to get their sports predictions correct. They even use video games. According to EA’s Fight Night 3, Floyd Mayweather Jr. should defeat Oscar De La Hoya by split decision.

This isn’t the first instance of an EA title being used to predict real-world events. Every year, the Super Bowl is predicted using the most recent title from the Madden series.

Tomlinson Turned Down Madden 2008 Cover

Ladainian TomlinsonIt turns out that maybe Vince Young wasn’t at the top of EA’s list for the cover of Madden 2008. As we told you earlier this week, Vince Young will appear on the cover, and EA’s Chris Erb said, “Vince was the guy all along.” But, that may not be exactly true. CNBC is reporting that the cover was first offered to none other than San Diego Charger LaDainian Tomlinson. LT didn’t turn down the spot because of the curse, but instead because of the distinct lack of money associated with it. Cover athletes are normally paid $100,00 – $200,000, and are required to make multiple appearances to hype the game.EA looks at the cover much like the front of a Wheaties box, where the honor of being on the cover is worth more than the actual monetary compensation. Apparently, LT disagrees, and I don’t blame him.

Vince Young to Grace Cover of Madden 2008. Will the Curse Continue?

Madden 2008 CoverBy now, everyone’s heard of the Madden cover curse. If you’re on the cover, you’re going to get injured. It happens every year. This year, Tennessee Titans fans are already worried, since EA announced Vince Young as the NFL star for the cover of the newest edition of the Madden franchise. Heck, even EA’s worried about the curse at this point. Chris Erb, director of marketing at Tiburon, even admitted, “I’ve got a bottle of champagne in my office that we’re ready to pop once someone breaks the curse.” All I can say is Good Luck, Vince.
