Command and Conquer 4 Announcement Trailer Director’s Cut
This reprise of the announcement trailer for Command and Conquer 4 features Game Designer Sam Bass providing scene by scene commentary and background information on the trailer and the story.

Much of the information on C&C4 is being kept under wraps and doled out as exclusive content. For more details on Command & Conquer 4 make sure to catch BattleCast PrimeTime on the July 24th episode. They’ll be revealing exclusive information C&C4. The first glimpse of the game will be the premier cinematic trailer aired exclusively on the July 23rd episode of Gametrailers TV on SPIKE TV. The ETA for Command & Conquer 4 is sometime in 2010.

Maxim has compiled its most wanted videogame babes of 2008. Usually these lists pick the top ten, but Maxim just couldn’t stop there. There are seventeen lovely ladies, virtual and real live knock out that give playing videogames an extra thrill.

Several of these heroines are a given. The list wouldn’t be complete without Tomb Raider: Underworld’s Lara Croft modeled after Alison Carroll and Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3’s Gina Carano as Russian hottie Natasha Volkova and Jenny McCarthy as Special Agent Tanya Adams.

Maggie Q as Detective Chase Linh in Need for Speed: Undercover may have been overlooked due to the games underwhelming ratings. Of course the virtual girls are well represented including. Zoey from Left 4 Dead is a pick as well as several secondary characters and enemies.

Electronic Arts has issued two patches for two of their RTS series Command and Conquer: Kane’s Wrath and Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3. The notes for Kane’s Wrath are pretty extensive so we won’t get to descriptive with them here, but it is basically aimed at making ‘numerous’ economic balance changes across all 9 factions.

The patch for Red Alert 3 is not as extensive and offers new and improved automatch system plus a balance exploit fix which means no more “Crane Exploit”. Also contained in this patch are the recent major updates from the previous patch, v1.05, and includes DRM de-authorization so if you’ve maxed out at 5 machines, you can easily de-authorize any installation in-game with a few simple clicks. A balance exploit was fixed by adding capture delay on Engineers, they have balanced Allies vs. Empire of the Rising Sun–secifically tuning Allied aircraft rush against Rising Sun and have added the ability to see a player’s stats in the online lobby. Co-op lobbies have been added as well, so you can easily find your next co-commander, a critical list of balance and technical changes have occurred and the official release of Red Alert 3 Worldbuilder has arrived as well.

The November NPD numbers are in for PC titles for the month, and it should come as no surprise that World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King is on top–as a matter of fact it takes the top two spots out of the Top 20. If you look through the whole chart though, you will notice that World of Warcraft took five spots which is an indication that its popularity shows no wane in sight.

Call of Duty: World at War for the PC came in third, with Spore still pulling in the gamers and resting at number four, and Left 4 Dead took the number 8 spot which is a decent slot considering the PC powerhouses that are present on the chart.

After a renewed start we had an interruption these last few weeks but rest assured Filefront is still hosting and promoting all the great user created and hosted content contributed to us. We return with a double length post highlighting some great mods and files for quite a few outstanding games including usual suspects like Half-Life 2, the Battlefield games and of course one of my favorite series “that I am really no good at yet still enjoy” – Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War

When you think of piracy lately, Spore comes to mind more so than anything else, and according to a post over on Actiontrip– Electronic Arts and Will Wright’s huge hit Spore is the biggest pirated game of 2008. I wonder if it has anything to do with the hoopla caused by the DRM restrictions EA imposed upon the title?

Whatever gamers reasoning for pirating these titles is, they are all listed in the order of most to least with the release date of the game next to the title. While looking this over, some of you may recall all of the money that Ubisoft claims they lost when Assassin’s Creed for the PC was pirated. The main reason that Assassin’s Creed was so highly pirated according to a lawsuit brought against OEM by Ubisoft, was because an employee took home a copy of Assassin’s Creed and uploaded it onto the internet six weeks before the game shipped in April 2008. Ubisoft claims that this led to over 700,000 pirated downloads of the title. Well, now that number is up to 1,070,000. Wow, just wow.

Anyway, without further ado, here is the list complied by TorrentFreak and posted on Actiontrip. Hopefully none of our readers have pirated any of these titles, but in reality it would be naive to think that you haven’t.

Electronic Arts is being targeted by another class-action law suit over the DRM included with Spore, SecuROM. This time, California resident Alex McQuown is hoping to use Spore to take down SecuROM once and for all.

The grievances listed in Alex McQuown’s class-action suit against EA are much the same as the other suits with three big differences. His lawyers at Finkelstein Thompson claim that SecuROM damages computers costing consumer time and money to repair the havoc caused by its installation. The suit also asserts that EA has needlessly caused its customers grief. The figures prove that piracy of games that carry SecuROM has risen dramatically. The biggest difference in McQuown’s suit is that he invites every U.S. citizen that has purchased an EA product with SecuROM to join the class.

SecuROM comes with many of the most popular titles recently released including EA’s Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 and Dead Space; Ascaron’s Sacred 2; Bethesda’s Fallout 3; BioWare’s Mass Effect published by Microsoft; Ubisoft’s Far Cry 2 and Take 2’s Grand Theft Auto IV for the PC. Of course none of these games or companies have provoked as much protest as EA and Spore. I guess its not always a good thing to be high profile. You make a bigger target.

For those ambitious gamers who enjoy modding, Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 has a World builder available. The Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 Worldbuilder allows players to design custom multiplayer & skirmish maps using the same tool the Red Alert 3 developers use.

To build your own empire download the Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 Worldbuilder tool from FileFront. Make sure to check out the other Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 mods and the Red Alert 3 Co-Op Lan Enabler Utility (1.1) while you’re(you are) at it.

Some gamers were disappointed that EA didn’t allow for Co-op Campaign play through the LAN network menu for Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3. A few were so miffed, they created a mod to allow LAN gameplay. FileFront has the Red Alert 3 Co-Op Lan Enabler Utility (1.1) with detailed instructions on how to install and use this mod. More information follows the break.

As we all know, Electronic Arts decided not to include Coop-Campaign functionality in LAN network menu of the game. We decided to change that – in result, you can now play any mission of your choice, with your friend, on LAN without need of being connected.

Turn off the game!

Extract “Ra3LanCoop_v1.1_TeknoGods.rar” to the Red Alert 3 installation folder.

Extract & Rebuild Campaign maps into LAN-friendly format using our home-brew map extractor utility which should be now located in “MapExtractorMapExtractor.exe”. Screenshot:

Run the game using “RA3Coop.exe”. This program enables you to choose a game version to execute, different language, configuration file, switch the window mode ON/OFF, disable bad language filter and switch coop mode ON/OFF, in case you would like to simply run the game normally. In the future we will also enable the AI difficulty settings, right now they are causing very heavy network desynchronization and disconnects. Screenshot:

In game, do not use LAN menu to play Coop-Campaign games with AI, use Skirmish menu instead.

That might not be entirely true, but what is true is that, with Little Big Planet now scheduled for release on October 27 (although with stingy retailers, that likely means Tuesday, October 28), gamers with multiple consoles are looking at another hard week on the wallet. Here’s what you might be picking up along with your copy of LBP:

It’s truly going to be one of the most wallet-busting stretches in gaming history over the course of the next several weeks. We should probably be thankful there aren’t any new consoles releasing — unless you plan on picking up the new PSP 3000s or importing a DSi next month.And — tempted as you might be — selling an arm on the black market isn’t as great an idea as it might seem. If nothing else, it’ll make playing that shiny new game of yours much more difficult.

Electronic Arts feels that a nifty little cross-promotion incentive is necessary in order to persuade gamers to not only purchase Warhammer Online but the upcoming RTS game Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3.

Apparently, giving males around the globe Gemma Atkinson’s voice to listen to while you control your chosen faction wasn’t enough because word came down from upon high this morning that if you pre-order either the regular or special edition of C&C: Red Alert 3 you will get an exclusive in-game item for Warhammer Online. Check out GameStop to see for yourself.

What is so special about this item you ask? Why it is a ‘Korssar’s Helm’ which will allow your character to turn into a bear.  Whether that interesting ability will convince you to purchase C&C or not depends on if you are the type of gamer who has to have every “special item” released for a game known to man.

If you are one of the  60,000 who have pre-ordered the collector’s edition of WAR, then you are already getting two exclusive in-game items, the ability to earn XP faster, access to 12 bonus quest items, plus bonus character customization options. That is a lot of neat stuff in and of itself; therefore, do you really want to purchase a game that you may not want just to be able to turn into a bear?

If you planned on purchasing C&C: Red Alert 3 anyway despite the Korssar’s Helm that is one thing, but is laying down another $50 or so for bragging rights really worth it?

Dead, alive, dead, alive…

Today we are looking at Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath for 360, another installment in the popular RTS series.

This one’s sure to spark off the age old debate about PC vs Console RTS, but make sure you take a look first, as Kane’s Wrath does bring some good things to the table, and the control system has to be one of the best console implementations around.

If you follow the soap opera scene overseas, you may recall that Gemma played the character Lisa Hunter on Channel 4’s Hollyoaks and two spin-off series Holyoaks: Let it Loose, and Hollyoaks: In the City. If she still does not ring a bell to you, you may have seen her on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! or have perhaps seen her spreads in different media as a fashion and lingerie model.

Making her videogame acting debut, Gemma will play Lt. Eva McKenna, a  military officer with a sexy twinkle in her eye and a British stiff upper lip. Eva is a communications officer for the Allied coalition in their fight against the Soviet and Rising Sun superpowers who made her first appearance in Command & Conquer Red Alert 2.

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 takes place in an alternate time line and imagines what would have happened if time travel had been used by both Albert Einstein and the Soviet Union, and features an epic global confrontation with you at the controls of your chosen faction.

Gemma seems pretty excited over her gig as a voice actor in a videogame, which you can discern from her quote in the press release:

“I’m a gamer and the chance to act in one of the best loved videogames was an opportunity I was really keen to explore – especially as Eva is such a strong female character. The worlds of gaming and film are getting ever closer and as an actress I wanted to explore this exciting new area of drama, broaden my acting skills and continue the active, outgoing side of my personality that I showed in I’m A Celebrity…”

To celebrate her new found voice acting talent, Gemma will be meeting fans and promoting her role in EA’s upcoming Red Alert 3 at Multiplay’s M Festival (the UK’s largest electronic games festival) on the afternoon of August 8. If you are a subscriber to Zoo magazine, the newest issue will feature a full interview with Gemma as well as her photo shoot in the guise of her Red Alert 3 character, Lt Eva McKenna.

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 is expected to be released for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 27.

It has been one crazy week, and the craziest thing happening at home base while Jonathan and Shawn were in LA was the amount of assets we received in our inboxes on a daily basis.
