Prince of Persia to hit X-Box Live Arcade

Ubisoft has announced their plans to release a new (sort of) Prince of Persia game through X-Box Live Arcade. Essentially, it is a remake of the original Prince of Persia, with 3D graphics and 2D gameplay. They’ve also fashioned the prince to look more like he did in The Sands of Time. The only thing that suggests a major diversion from the old classic is the WTF moment at the end of this trailer. Not sure if they’ll make any changes to the difficulty level. A large part of me hopes they don’t, but that game was freakin’ hard.

Oblivion PS3 Box ArtEarlier today, I told you that GAME, a leading UK retailer, was refusing to stock the PS3 version of Oblivion. Now, CVG is reporting that the truth of the matter is not that GAME is refusing to carry the title, but that they cannot get any stock in it due to distribution issues. An Ubisoft spokesperson said, “As demand for Oblivion has been so high there may be some supply problems with Game and Gameplay, which is why it’s temporarily unavailable. However, it still is available elsewhere. Rest assured, Oblivion on PS3 is definitely out today in online and high street retailers.” So, I guess the real losers here are GAME, for their lost possible financial gain, and their customers, who have to search elsewhere for their Oblivion fix.

Ubisoft has announced the newest addition to the wildly successful Tom Clancy franchise. EndWar will be an RTS that is targeted for next-generation consoles, and it is under the direction of creative director Michael de Plater. “Our development teams are invigorated to be creating the first 100 per cent next-generation Tom Clancy brand,” said Serge Hascoet, chief creative officer at Ubisoft.

The Tom Clancy series has sold 45 million units worldwide so far, and adding EndWar will certainly drive that number higher. I wonder if Sam Fisher will make an appearance as a special unit?
