- Players of both “Score Attack” and “Trial Battle” modes will be able to compare their skills and compete via the online ranking system.

Capcom is looking to cook up some figurines for the upcoming Street Fighter IV. Since this is only the first batch though, they can’t make all the characters; so they’re asking the fans to help them choose. They’re running a poll on their blog right now asking people to pick their top three choices for who should be made into a figurine first. The list includes every character that has been revealed for Street Fighter IV thus far, so you’re out of luck if you’re still holding out for a pink T. Hawk figure. At this time, it looks like old favorites Ryu, Chun-Li, and Ken are topping the list. Me, I’m hoping for Vega; the psychotic guy with the claws always wins. Like many people, I’m still quite amazed that they’re actually making a new Street Fighter (particularly since I still have horrific flashbacks from the first one). But making it they are, and in fact JoBlo.com got a chance to sit down with the new film’s screenwriter, Justin Marks, to talk about what fans can expect from this new movie. According to Marks, the story for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li will stick to the Street Fighter mythos rather carefully, but will partly delve into Bison’s past and reveal just how he gained his status. Marks also made it clear that they’re not looking to make the same mistakes that other films have made in the past. Besides ignoring the old film completely, he’s taken some of his cues from other films on what not to do, as seen in his response to a question about a possible shower scene like in the vastly superior anime film:
No this is actually a good moment to mention something about Chun-Li’s depiction in the movie. Basically there are two factors at work. First, I’ve never seen a successful action movie (in my mind) that blatantly sexualized its female lead and succeeded for its audience. CATWOMAN, ELEKTRA, the list goes on and on, and I just get a lot of eye-rolling. Then I think back to THE TERMINATOR, or possibly my all-time favorite movie, ALIENS, and I think of how Ripley is depicted in that film. She’s a tough woman, but not because she came from a place of wearing tight pants and beating up men. She’s tough because she had this core emotional story about a life that could have been and never was. To me, that’s the way you write a woman in these kinds of movies.
The second factor is Kristin [Kreuk, who plays Chun-Li] herself. She’s really something special, a fantastic actress and very selective about what she will and won’t do, because she knows that lots of girls out there are really impressionable. So we’ve gone to great lengths to make sure Chun-Li is not just a sex object fantasy for people’s desktop backgrounds. That was something Kristin made very clear, and we’re honored that she’s willing to go that route, because it’s one of the factors that’s going to elevate this above adolescent video-game adaptation.
That said, did I mention Kristin is gorgeous? And there’s one very steamy night club scene where she does… awesome things… to get the information she needs.
Well…damn; I was really looking forward to that shower scene. On the plus side though, it sounds like Marks is taking this project very seriously. Throughout the interview he seemed to constantly reassure everyone that this isn’t another hastily thrown together video game movie. Guess we’ll have to wait and see for ourselves whenever the movie comes out. In the meantime, you canr ead the rest of the interview by clicking the link below.

The official blog for the new Street Fighter film has just updated to reveal a couple new details from upcoming Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. First up, there’s a new shot showing one of the main characters…er, Detective Maya Sunee? Yeah, I have no idea how she fits into the new film, but I’m not going to complain about anything involving Moon Bloodgood. According to the blog though, “she’s Bangkok Gangland Homicide. A no-nonsense, fast-talking, half-Thai cop who rocks a Ducati and a set of gold cuffs.” There’s also a new page from the storyboard posted, showing Chun-Li landing a solid hit to Vega (even just looking at the little drawings, it made me go, “ouch”). Hopefully their next update will reveal how Kristin Kreuk fills out the spiky wristbands of Chun-Li herself.

Well, July is approaching fast, and E3 with it. We received the list of E3 exhibitors, and thought we’d share them with you. As usual, you can expect us to have a team from Gaming Today on site to bring you coverage right from the Convention Center.
This year’s list includes (among others) Atari, Eidos, EA, Konami, LucasArts, Square Enix, and of course the big three of the console world: Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft. Contrary to popular rumor, Bethesda will make an appearance with Fallout 3, as confirmed by their blog post. Apparently they were left off the initial listing for an unknown reason.
You can see a full list of the companies currently expected to attend after the break.

Capcom recently learned that their beloved (and simultaneously reviled) Mega Man franchise had received the Guinness World Record for “Most Number of Games In a Single Series.” So how does Capcom feel about that? They’re pretty proud actually, while also acknowledging that the Blue Bomber has been “milked like no other milking in the history of video game milkings!” They’re also calling foul though, not because of the contention that Mega Man is the most milked franchise ever, but because thay feel there should be more games recognized. The Guinness World Records: Gamers’ Edition 2008 book says that the series has had 46 games, but Capcom believes there are actually much more than that, including Mega Man Soccer, Super Adventure Mega Man, Mega Man Power Battle, and others.
Considering it seems like there’s a new Mega Man game showing up every six months just in the U.S., I’m not going to doubt them. They are however asking for someone out there to come up with a definite number for just how many Mega Man games there really are, not including games where he just made an appearance, such as Marvel Vs. Capcom. The person who completes this assignment will win “some kinda random prize,” which I’m guessing is a Mega Man game, since they’ve apparently got cartridges and discs affixed to the mortar of their building.

Fans of Okami have had their own issues with the Wii port of the game, and it looks like the original game’s director has one huge complaint of his own. Apparently, Clover, the PS2 version’s developer, was dissolved following Okami’s release; so Ready at Dawn was recruited for the Wii port. According to Capcom, the credits at the end of the game were presented in a pre-rendered video that featured the Clover logo, which they couldn’t use for legal reasons. Director Hideki Kamiya recently expressed his disappointment upon learning that his name along with practically everyone on the original development team had been cut from the Wii version’s credits:
I don’t know the details behind why the staff roll was cut… But what do you all think about the issue? I’m not disappointed because my name was removed from the game. Of course, we all have pride in our work; we all want to stand up and say “I made this!” Yet more importantly, I find it extremely regrettable that the omoi that went into the staff roll is gone from the game as well. (Translator’s note: The Japanese word - ?? – omoi – is best defined as a combination of thoughts, emotions, and messages. I’ve left it in Japanese as I feel it better suits Kamiya-san’s intentions.)
Yeah, that would be disappointing, to say the least. It’s particularly disheartening for a game like Okami which was based almost entirely on creative gameplay and a highly artistic style.

We all could’ve guess the boys from Shadoloo would be showing up in Street Fighter IV, but now it’s been confirmed. Capcom has unveiled a batch of new screenshots from the game that show M. Bison, Vega, Sagat, and Balrog in their new 3D forms. All their usual special moves seem to have remained intact, but have now been given a somewhat flashier makeover. I’m sure we’ll fianlly get to see more of the old cast returning as the game gets closer to completion. Until then, you can check out some more screenshots of the characters by cliking on the link below.

The Xbox Live Arcade may not be updating this week, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look forward to some future titles. This new trailer from Capcom shows off their upcoming Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3, which is essentially an HD sequel to the classic arcade title. The XBLA is somewhat flooded with side-scrolling shooters, but I’d expect Capcom to come up with something more worth my MS points. We’ll have tos ee when the game comes out later this year.

Another Resident Evil game is headed to a Nintendo system, although only Japan will reap the benefits. As originally reported by Famitsu, Capcom is planning on porting the GameCube’s Resident Evil Zero to Wii, although the game won’t see any sort of update in terms of graphics or content. There will, however, be some sort of Wiimote functionality, although we’re not sure what it’ll be just yet.
It seems like a strange decision to port a game that’s fully backwards compatible with any Wii. If they’re not going to do anything more than add some Wiimote controls — which could very well be an optional, minor thing — why would anyone pick up a copy on Wii versus GameCube? It’s not like the game can adopt Resident Evil 4’s controls on Wii, as Zero plays like the classic games in the series with fixed cameras and relative controls.
Capcom VP Christian Svensson confirmed that the game is coming only to Japan. “There are no plans for a Western release for the title at this time,” he wrote on the Capcom message boards, where he also mentioned the fact that Capcom will inevitable be ripped for the decision to only release the game in Japan.

Capcom has released some footage of the multiplayer for the upcoming Bionic Commando Rearmed. The XBLA/PSN title will recreate the original NES game with updated graphics and several new features, like co-op modes and multiplayer (as seen here). Maybe it’s the single-screen fighting, the faux-3D graphics, or the randomly spawing power-ups, but this footage reminds me a lot of the gameplay in Super Smash Bros.. At any rate, the multiplayer looks pretty fun, particularly since I’d never considered how a Bionic Commando deathmatch might look before. Thsi game just can’t be released soon enough, in my opinion.

Someone, somewhere within the cubicles of the Capcom offices is getting their ass chewed off, or at the very least has egg smeared all over their face because of a snafu over the cover of the Okami port for the Wii.
Apparently, you can see an IGN watermark on the cover, and after being reported to Capcom, they have promised to make good on this strange mistake. Here is an excerpt pulled from their US blog:
As fans know, the real art of Okami is on the game disc itself, but given the artistic nature of this game, we’d like the outside of the box to match the beauty contained within. To that end, we’re offering a free make-good gift to our fans. If you purchased Okami for the Wii, for a limited time, you can choose from one of the three art pieces below and Capcom will ship a high-quality version of the box cover straight to your door.
Each piece is sized to fit perfectly into your Okami Wii box and will transform your copy into the best-looking game on your shelf. Just head to http://www.capcom.com/artredemption/, fill out the form, and go back to playing Okami while you patiently wait for your new, improved art to make its way to you.
Poor Capcom, I honestly feel bad for them over this, and the cover art they are promising to replace the original cover with is drop dead gorgeous. Personally, I prefer the third option which you can check out via their US blog (hit the link above).

When Devil May Cry 4 was announced to be coming to both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 (and eventually PC), loyal DMC fans created a petition, whining to Capcom. Apparently Capcom’s “decision to turn [their] back on [their] most faithful gaming company,” was “absolutely demoralizing for not only the gamers, but also Sony itself.” They also proclaimed that they would boycott any and all Capcom games. After selling two million copies, the plan doesn’t seem to have worked.
Despite all of that (which I have no trouble painting as quite possibly the dumbest fanboy act I’ve ever seen), Capcom has brazenly gone forward with their plan to further demoralize gamers and Sony by announcing that DMC4 will be hitting PCs this summer.
In an act that I wish more PC developers would do, Capcom will be releasing a demo ahead of time so that gamers can try out the game and see how well it runs with an included benchmark mode. There will also be additional content and improved graphics, including DX10 support.
Among the new modes are Turbo mode and Legendary Dark Knight mode, which will speed up the action and add more enemies, respectively. Other changes such as different enemy layouts should help mix things up for those who may have already played through the game on consoles.
The game will carry the Games for Windows branding. Click here to read my impressions of the PlayStation 3 version of the game, or here to get the Zero Punctuation take..

There have been numerous complaints from gamers regarding the new look of Street Fighter IV, with it’s somewhat cartoonish and disproportioned take on the franchise. Personally, I’ve been okay with the new look — it takes some getting used to, but it still looks good — but this new art for the game has given me and apparently many others reason for pause. When you look at this image of Chun-Li, what’s the first thing that you see? Is it the little buns in her hair? Her bulging biceps? Or is it that massive thumb that looks like it could crush rocks? Kris Pigna over at 1Up is calling “WTF!?” on this one, and I have to agree. I’m sure the full game will be great, but seriously, I have trouble imagining someone looking at that image over at Capcom and thinking nothing looked odd. Unless they’ve added some backstory now about how she accidentally killed a man during a thumb wrestling competition, I guess.

Capcom has announced that ?kami for the Wii has begun shipping to retail. The award winning game and fan favorite will be different this time around but only because of Wii remote integration, widescreen options, and higher definition 480p graphics.
There have been both negative and positive responses regarding the inclusion of the game for the Wii, but mainly because gamers were concerned with the new port being just like the PS2 version. Some fans stated that they would like to see wide-screen for the game and it looks like many got their wish. So you see, sometimes developers listen after all - yet we will see how Okami plays on the Wii. I sincerely hope that this port did not ruin the game.

According to a bizarre flash message on the Bionic Commando website, the upcoming remake of the NES classic has been rated “M for Mature” by the ESRB. The game, titled “Bionic Commando: Rearmed,” will contain similar gameplay to the original, but with high-definition graphics. Apparently, the “M” rating is mostly due to the game’s ending, which remains true to the old game and has Hitler’s Master D’s head exploding (yes, I just spoiled a 20 year old game, but Capcom did it first). Capcom seems okay with that though, given the quirkiness of their message. I’m still looking forward to this remake more than the brand new Bionic Commando, so I figure a little head explosion never hurt anyone…waitaminute…

Ok, so the picture I posted is actually Dave Chappelle as Prince. The reason I did that is because every time I see Miles Edgeworth, his suit reminds me of Austin Powers whose suit reminds me of Prince, which reminds me of Dave Chappelle. I know, I honestly need to seek professional help and perhaps get a nice script of anti-psychotics to get me through the day - but trust me, I am much more fun when I am not thinking in a sane, logical manner.
The news of Miles Edgeworth getting his own spin-off to the Ace Attorney series for the DS tentatively titled Perfect Prosecutor is good news for fans of the series and following the announcement this week, a website devoted to the game is now live. Not much is revealed on the Japanese site. There are no links as of yet, the site is devoid of a storyline, no release date has been released, and there are no screens or trailers available. Basically, it is more of a teaser site, but if you are looking forward to playing as the dashing fashionista Miles Edgeworth, the site will do nothing more than get you salivating for more content.
For more information, just keep checking back with us because as soon as something more is announced, we will be sure to let you know. Be sure and go to the official site once in a while as well, because I Capcom will most likely be adding all kinds of goodies to it soon.
