Anyone who loves the end of the world must love Fallout… so is the mantra of the Wasteland. Bethesda continues to torture/tease longtime fans of the Fallout series with a slight trickle of information about the forthcoming return of the once dead Interplay PC title. Will it be a first-person game? Pete Hines, the master of sadistic game PR for Bethesda won’t come out and say but the concept art now available at the “Teaser Site” for the game looks promising no matter what.
The above image looks far more apocalyptic than anything I remember from the Interplay days, who knows maybe we’ll finally get a chance to see a major city like New York or Washington D.C. this time around instead of California and the Nevada desert. More details as the clock ticks down at Bethesda’s Fallout homepage I’m sure..

Liam Neeson, the award winning actor who played in such masterpieces as NEXT OF KIN, will be the star voice-over actor for Fallout 3. He will be playing the main character’s father, and seems pretty pleased with the fruits of his labor on the game. Read the full article »

If you can’t wait to see what Bethesda is going to do with the Fallout IP, or if you just miss the old Fallout, I’ve got good news. The crew over at No Mutants Allowed has released the Van Buren tech demo for Black Isle’s original Fallout 3. While it is a pre-alpha tech demo, you can still install it and check it out if you need that fix. They’ve even posted a guide to accompany the release.

Bethesda has made a few updates to the Fallout 3 site. The site now includes a streaming music track, a piece of environment art, and a countdown to the release of the teaser trailer.
See now I would file this under no news is good news. I have already been forced to wait a good number of years for another Fallout fix, but now it has that in your face feel. It’s no different then those calendars that come out at Christmas time, mocking you from the refrigerator door, making sure you are constantly aware that there are XYZ days left before you get the goods. Painfull mocking evil Bethesda. BRB gotta check the timer again.

Earlier today, I told you that GAME, a leading UK retailer, was refusing to stock the PS3 version of Oblivion. Now, CVG is reporting that the truth of the matter is not that GAME is refusing to carry the title, but that they cannot get any stock in it due to distribution issues. An Ubisoft spokesperson said, “As demand for Oblivion has been so high there may be some supply problems with Game and Gameplay, which is why it’s temporarily unavailable. However, it still is available elsewhere. Rest assured, Oblivion on PS3 is definitely out today in online and high street retailers.” So, I guess the real losers here are GAME, for their lost possible financial gain, and their customers, who have to search elsewhere for their Oblivion fix.

GAME, the leading specialist game store in the UK, will not be carrying the PS3 version of Bethesda’s blockbuster RPG, Oblivion, in any of their 400 stores in the UK and Ireland. While no comment has been forthcoming from GAME, one wonders why you would flatly refuse to stock one of the best selling RPG’s available. Whatever the reason, there is no doubt that this will sorely hurt the UK sales of Oblivion. I wonder what Todd Howard did to them?

As any Fallout fan can tell you, Bethesda recently acquired the Fallout IP from Interplay for $5.75 million. Now, Bethesda has opened up forums, and they’ve tossed up a teaser site that basically consists of the picture over to the right. Todd Howard, executive producer for Fallout (and incidentally, for Oblivion), says, “We had known that Fallout had been left behind (when Interplay went bust). The developers were saying ‘we’re really interested in doing something with this IP’ so the business people came back six months later and handed it over saying ‘have fun’.” Howard even said that Oblivion is pretty much done, stating, “I think I’d be surprised if we do another expansion.†The upside of that is, as Howard says, “We have pretty much everybody on Fallout 3 right now. It started off kind of small and then we add people to it and now the expansion’s done, all those people have come on to Fallout 3. That’s the thing we want to focus on right now.
While we don’t know what Bethesda plans for the franchise, a cursory inspection of the forums shows that the players want the same gameplay as the old Fallout. Bethesda, however, has made it clear they will be taking the IP in their own direction. We’ll have to wait and see.

If I say “Fallout Boy†and you think boy band please skip to the next article, this isn’t for you. So it’s no secret that I’m a huge Fallout fan. I hold it to be the finest RPG ever made (yea light your torches FF fanboys). Fact is I would take a point in ‘Bloody Mess’ over your mountain of Gil any day. So news that Fallout 3 is back from the dead and actually in production is music to my ears. While I want the game like I don’t know, years ago, I hope the Devs take their time. You hear me Bethesda? Don’t mess with my dreams.
