The original N-Gage didn’t do particularly well. After its inception in 2003, it was discontinued by Nokia in 2005. The only real competition at the time was the Game Boy Advance, which was a complete beast. Sporting cellphone functionality, it aimed to chip away at the GBA’s market dominance… and failed miserably.

Nokia didn’t give up on the N-Gage property altogether, though, as it planned to move gaming onto a line of smartphones that should see the light of day sometime this year. Electronic Arts has already pledged support for the N-Gage, and now Nokia has announced that Capcom will be delivering unannounced games to the platform.

“For many years, Capcom has been entertaining consumers around the world with exceptional gaming experiences. We’ve now reached a point with mobile technologies where companies like Capcom can deliver a whole new level of mobile entertainment,” said Gregg Sauter, Nokia’s director of third party publishing.

While Nokia has yet to deliver much in the way of mobile gaming entertainment, strong third party support can never hurt.
