Although Activision and Treyarch have yet to announce a specific date for PC version of the Call of Duty: World at War multiplayer Beta – they have given up some details on just how you can get in on all the action.

It’s pretty easy actually. If you have pre-ordered the game from GameStop you will automatically get a Beta key, where as if you have yet to pre-order World at War all you have to is go online to the official website and enlist with the Call of Duty Headquarters.

Josh Olin, the online community manager for Treyarch has posted all the intel on the site, but what it all boils down to is this:

  • Since the World at War Beta gives you and service providers the option of hosting your own servers; however, dedicated servers will be Windows only for the duration of the beta. Also, according to the site “GSP’s will be able to sell Beta servers and put up as many dedicated servers as they’d like and . All of this will function as if it were a regular Multiplayer game”.
  • Everyone who is a registered user will receive a special key that will allow them to create a profile name and play the beta. This offer also includes people who sign up after the beta has already started.
  • Your globally unique user name will be very important because for the first time ever the PC version will be incorporating invites and your friends list so that the squad mechanics will work just like the console versions. Clan tags can also be added as a prefix.
  • Just like with the Xbox 360 version of the Beta, all accounts, experience and friends lists will be deleted after the Beta is concluded.

Josh has promised that his next update will include details on when the Beta will be going live, how you can download it and where you can get your keys. So if you want in on the fun, you better register soon. 1UP will also be keeping and eye out for any new announcements as they are made available so you should check back with us often and be sure to mark your calenders because the game will storm retail on November 11 for the PC, PS2, PS3, 360, Wii and DS.

cool. sounds like they are putting in a profile system similar to Battlefield 2142, which was one of the few awesome things about that game.

Wow… i remember the good old day when beta’s were game demos and those demos were free.

    What a rip.

  4. Jose says:

The demo is not free dipshit… you have to pre-order the game to get a beta key. That is not free. So I get to buy it… then try the demo I bought to possibly find out that the game sucks and then loose $50+ bucks.
