call of duty world at war

Last Wednesday, Activision and Treyarch announced details on how to sign up for the World War II shooter, Call of Duty: World at War Multiplayer Beta for the PC, and today is the day you can get in on all the fragging fun.

Now up on FileFront, the Call of Duty: World at War Beta installer is ready to be loaded on your PC; however, before you get to downloading make sure you are aware of the all the ins and outs of what it encompasses. We posted these details last week, but here they are again just in case you missed them:

  • The beta gives you and service providers the option of hosting your own servers; however, dedicated servers will be Windows only for the duration of the beta. “GSP’s will be able to sell beta servers and put up as many dedicated servers as they’d like. All of this will function as if it were a regular multiplayer game”.
  • Registered user will receive a special key that will allow them to create a profile name and play the beta. This offer also includes people who sign up after the beta has already started.
  • Your globally unique user name will be very important, because for the first time ever the PC version will be incorporating invites and your friends list so that the squad mechanics will work just like the console versions. Clan tags can also be added as a prefix.
  • Just like with the Xbox 360 version of the Beta, all accounts, experience and friends lists will be deleted after the beta is concluded.

Now, the only thing left to do is sign up, and you can do that by visiting the official website and enlist with the Call of Duty Headquarters. If you happen to have preordered the PC version from GameStop, you already have a beta key so sign up and and then head on over to FileFront where yo can get the installer by hitting this link or the badge below.

As always, after you have played around with it a bit, be sure and let us know what you thought of you experience in the comments section below.

  9. Terdog says:

I hate it. The dogs are way too overpowered. Espically in hardcore mode. Sigh, why did have to mess with COD4’s damn near perfect multiplayer?

  10. mad guy says:

i cant get it to work, i installed the beta and updated direct x  , then when i think the problems solved, it has an error message and it wont run. i found out theres alot of other people witht his problem as well. :?: .if anyone can help me with this, that would be great

    My previous post:

I downloaded the installer again but from a different website (FileShack). I tried to unintstall the existing COD-WAW but the installer failed so I installed over the existing version. By the way, the downloaded installer was missing a file extension so I had to add a “.exe” to the end. Sure enough, the first download must have been incomplete or corrupted because this time COD-WAW allowed me to create a profile (actually, to use my exising COD profile)!

Distorter and anyone else having this problem, try a fresh download and re-install. It just might solve the problem. Good Luck.

    d3dx9_39.dll
You have to download the file seperatlely, then just un-zip it into wherever you installed the COD beta. I had that error. But it still wont work, starts loading then a message pops up saying that it has stopped working  . Any ideas?

  16. FBiee says:

There is an error when I click the game on. It says the application has failed to start because d3dx9_37.dll was not found. It says to re-instal it and I did but the same error happened. HELP!

  18. tlarseth says:

d3dx9_37.dll goes into your system32 folder within windows not the install dir of the game.

    put it here.
    C:\windows\system32\

Hi there, im havin trouble with my call of duty world at war for PC.
Multiplayer isnt so bad when theres not many players involved, but single player, it takes ages loading, im talking like 5 minutes, maybe a bit less. And thats each level and from when i first double click the icon on my desktop. And sometimes during gameplay its ok, but other times when theres a lot happening, explosions etc its really slow and like laggy. I go on systemrequirementslab.com and it says my graphics card doesn’t meet the requirements for this game, but it also says that for dead space, but thats runs ok. Could my graphics card posibly be the problem? Its a Radeon X1350/X1500 series or something at 256MB. Any comeback to this will be very much appreciated. My addy is wwftherockisthebest@hotmail.com aswel. Thanks, Jamie
