Call of Duty 4 PS3 Being Updated, Online Issues Ironed Out

Original Story: PlayStation 3 owners have been encountering several problems with Call of Duty 4 when attempting to play online – primarily slow matchmaking and the “Downloading Game Settings” error that plagued the CoD4 beta on Xbox 360.
Yesterday, Infinity Ward’s Community Manager, fourzerotwo, posted about an update for the game which was in the works and promised to fix these problems.
The server team has been working on this all weekend, and will be working through the night. They’re upgrading all server hardware as well as dedicated an individual database to each functionality to improve performance and handle the traffic hitting the servers. (i.e. Database for Matchmaking, Database for Leaderboards, etc.)
This will greatly improve the speed and stability for matchmaking for players.
During this upgrade you may still receive the ‘Downloading Game Settings’ message, but it is temporary, in the sense of just let it download and you will eventually drop into a lobby and play just fine.
Remember, this is just short term, eventually once everything is upgraded you won’t be receiving Downloading Game Settings at all.
However, if you do, just wait it out and you will be dropped into a lobby.
And earlier today fourzerotwo made another post stating that some major improvements were rolled out late last night, and that gamers shouldn’t be running into the problems anymore.
It’s disappointing to see this problem which was readily apparent in the beta not get fixed in the PlayStation 3 version of the game, but at least the problem didn’t take long to be attended to.
This is bullshit. I was really into this game but now I’m stuck at LEVEL 8!!! I can play for 4 hours and then turn it off………YEP back to LEVEL 8!!!

I have had absolutely no problems with my rank until last night. I played up from lvl 49 to lvl 53 last night and when I logged in this morning I’m back to lvl 49. Very annoying. But then the game is still fun. I’m hoping they are fixing this right now.

ya i had no problems with the game intill today it sucks i hope they fix it fast if they expect me to keep buying there games at 60$

You guys are lucky. I’ve never been able to play online. When I try to join a game, my whole network goes down; my phone, my computers. I have to reset my modem and wait about 5 minutes before I can get an internet connection again. No other game does that. I only bought this game for online,(although single player is sweet) so I’m pissed. If the single player wasn’t so good, I would have taken it back the day I got it.

I know how you all feel about the ranking. I played last night for a few hours and went from corporal to staff sergant. I shut down my ps3 for awhile and logged back in and found myself back at corporal. The sad thing about it, it appears I am locked at corporal. No matter what I do to increase it throws me right back to corporal. I can’t even increase this rank no matter what. Really pissing me off. All that time spent for nothing. I have been reading about how the ranks are spread across different servers. Is it possible to manually connect to different servers? I would love to find the one that my staff sergant rank is on.

If the symptoms you describe are true then your problem is not with the game or console. Your problem is with how your network is set up.
Yah, Im having problems.
Im at rank 38 (prestige twice already) Ive got to 41 through last night twice, go on today see that it’s back to rank 38. Im getting preety pissed off. Ive lost 15,000 score atleast. Would have been nice to have, im keeping track of other players scores/time played to tell me if it’s happening to them.
But, I was wondering if the go in FFA works, like when you go in and out till you get your score back.
This bull shit started for me last fuckin night, i’ve been playing all day today and the same fuckin shit keeps happening, its like i never play. those fuckin geeks suck BIG HAIRY DONKEY COCK! activision get your fuckin shit together, and when you do my point that i gathered during this bullshit better show up on my ranking.
Bloody hell Right i got the game today i got to corparal and then i turned my ps3 off , turned back on guess what right back where i started NO POINTS SORT THIS OUT NOW!!!
So… looks like were all talkin ao generally 2 problems. One in which the XP bar overflows and gives you a negative xp [ex -2065]. And two, that after logging out your ranks don’t save – which the way to correc the problem is by loggin out an back in until you magically get yor rank back. ::sigh:: great game – but the fact that you play onlin to strive for something [acheivments, unlocks, new weapons etc] feel like your actuallly making goo progress, and then to see your work be dismantled, is ust plain cruel. ::sits and whistles:: I want to play so bad but I hate the fake hapiness I feel after unlocking something and knowing that I just got hapy for nothing. Good luck to al of us, SONY and INFINITY WARD, please do your job, you already have out money…
i got the game 2 days ago. i first went online with it yesterday with my ps3. i got up to rank 16 then i did single player for a while and when i went back online i was rank 1. does anyone know what is wrong with it
The game is excellent, but the f***ing xp point should be saved after every session!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Luckily i was only on lvl 17 and now back on 14, achieved lvl 15 twice today, still not saving it.

I thought mine was working fine, but it’s not. lol, figures. Now I really think this is happening to EVERYONE! I’ve kept track of some high ranked players that I know would play during the weekend (KingOfGames) and it seems that I saw his days at 9, 1 hour, 50 some odd mins. Then today he was down to 9 days 0 hours 10mins. Im keeping track of some other big names (ranks 1-10) to see if there time/score changes right, I’m hopping they fix the problem soon, or I will be taking my game back to block buster and getting my 60$ back

i am having issues with my ranking as well…Im at rank 35 now and i can still rank up….but when i quit out of the game and go back on later im still at rank 35…so if any can help me… it would be very much appreciated
I was at rank 54 and needed 200xp for level 55 now i am level 50. Players have worked bloody hard for their ranking, all points, kills and rank should be put right and very quickly.
