Call of Duty 4 on Xbox 360 Getting Title Update

Infinity Ward is planning a title update for the 360 version of Call of Duty 4. There’s no release date for the update yet, which will focus on matchmaking optimization and adding some new features, including a killcam on airstrikes and claymores and host migration. The latter is especially important, since getting knocked out of a party because the host has left the game is incredibly annoying.
Here’s the full list of potential features that will show up in the update, according to a forum post by IW community manager fourzerotwo:
Additions / New Features:
- Added Kill cam to Airstrike bombs and Claymores
- Addition of Host Migration so if Host Leaves auto-chooses next best host
- Tweaked the following Oldschool Mode settings based on feedback:
- Added Unlimited Sprint
- Increased Magazine Size
- Added Ragdoll Cam
- Addition of New “N0M4D” Control Scheme
Optimizations / Tweaks:
- Identify party by background color (in Lobby)
- Optimized server selection for first match for better connections
- Improved network performance for 18 player games
- Optimized ‘Chase Cam’ when Spectating
- Fixed Playlist error when attempting to join from other games
- Handle Corrupt Create A Class data instead of kicking player
i think everyone can agree that just about every new game released no matter what system its for has issues with the online play, thats a given. At least somethings are getting fixed. Host connection is the main one i think. As far as the sniping goes, ya it sucks but if they made it much easier everybody and their mother would be running around with it. The only gripe i have is maybe tone the grenades down a bit, extend the time period a bit maybe to throw them back.I know it depends on how long it was held be for thrown but everyone can agree it SUCKS to be killed by a grenade that an enemy just threw from 3/4 across the map

Ya ill add u to my friends list, I have been playing COD 4 for more often latley and now enjoy the sniping and all the guns. im no star at the game, but i play COD4, Rainbow Six Vegas, Halo 3, GRAW 2, GOW, to name a few. im a mature gamer and will add u.

The reason is actually quite simple. To accept game invite you first need to be in Multiplayer Menu, then Xbox Live(the lobby you go into which lets you create a class, leaderboards, barracks, etc)then accept the game invite. It was annoying me so a got a friend to send me an invite when i was in the Single Player menu and it didnt let me join. I done it from the Xbox Live menu and it let me

To those of you who had trouble connecting to your friends and their parties… What you need to do first is ensure that you both have your NAT settings set to ‘Open’ instead of ‘Moderate’ or ‘Strict’. To do this, simply google port forwarding for Xbox 360, or enable UPnP on your router, even set your Xbox 360 connection outside the DMZ in your router settings. If you both have this done and still can’t connect to each other, the problem lies with your ISP’s. I had a mate I simply couldn’t connect to, even after many remedies, although we could both play in the same game so long as we sought a common host ala Gears of War. However, we worked out that his ISP wasn’t home network friendly and allowed the bare minimum in this regard, just enough for him to not think there was a problem. Anyhow, he ended up moving and got a better deal with a new ISP in his new area and now we play all the time without a problem.
And for all those who rave on about Halo 3 being a great game. Please get with the times. Halo 3 was out of date with the beta and is a passable game to distract you on a boring Sunday afternoon when you have friends over, but it was nothing special. I for one returned to Gears of War the same day I bought Halo 3, simply because the mulitiplayer mechanics were so poor. Call of Duty 4 is a far superior game in both the single and multiplayer game modes and I haven’t come across a single person who was disappointed with it. As for the other FPS offerings… Rainbow Six: Vegas had a great campaign with passable multiplayer. Call of Duty 3 was just weak all round. GRAW 2 had a good campaign with passable multiplayer also. Bioshock was an amazing campaign experience. And UT3 doesn’t look set to be anything too flash, but certainly well worth a look, especially if you’re a fan of the genre.

Quake, Mario 64 and Mario Kar 64 (when playing 4 player battle mode on ‘Block Fort’ map.) No competition, otherwise people will simply say Pong.
Its probably just me but ever since COD4 first hit the shelves i started playing and the message of the day always said that infinity ward was having probs. I played online and had no problems then about a week or so later the message dissappeared and only ‘then’ do i start getting lag and constant server problems and not to mention stupid hosts who wait in the lobby for abt 5minutes before deciding they cant play anymore…Am i the only one who thinks that problems only started when that little itty bitty message vanished? As for the whole ‘its stupid to hold ur breath’ Im in the RAF regiment and when im shooting for marksmanship i just control the breathing rather than stop all together but i can see why it wud make sense in the game to just hold ur breath all together for simpler aiming. I know some people who do hold their breath when they shoot and ive tried myself but its just uncomfortable.

COD4 is a great game and it is good that they are making patches and updates for online play. It is not the greatest game ever, but it does make my top 10 list. It has also won a lot of awards including Best FPS and Game of the year on IGN.com and also other websites.

To xboxlenny, if your gonna be picky then heres one for ya, while walking around with the m60 why cant you get a reload when you walk up to the m240 placement?, or why doesnt the barret kill with one shot to the chest even if you have the juggernaut on? If you can run around with the m60 why not the 240?

Ok lets just talk about the real problem with COD4, why does it take forever for me to find a match on Xbox live. I mean i just got the game 2 days ago and the day I got it I would find matches in a matter of seconds, now it takes hours just to find a match with more than six players in it. I just want a update or something to fix the problem for both Xbox 360 and PS3 gamers.

i dont own rainbow 6 vegas or most other shooting games, but i have tried them and cod4 seems supreme. the campaign was short but one of the most awe inspiring ive played yet and the multiplayer is fabulous despite some bugs. i have a question though. i have been able to play cod4 multiplayer fine since i got it on christmas day, but now it says i need an active network connection to play. i am connected to xbox live when this happens.

This thread pretty much sums up why the typing in forums should be forbidden to anyone with an IQ under 90, or under the age of 14. The simple lack of knowledge of ones own native language here is rather disgusting.
I also love how people will defend their favorite consoles as if they are some form of mythical deity that deserves their worship, rather than as a mere personal preference. Each console has their strengths and weaknesses, which is why more than one was able to survive the Console Wars in the first place.
Just be happy with the fact that (your system of choice) is better than (their system of choice) and leave it at that. Or stab yourself in the eye with a sharp object repeatedly. Either works.
FIGHTING NUDE…what is the deal with “extra bullet damage”??? it feels like you are just running around in the nude…whoever is the fastest gun on the draw every time you turn a corner shoots the other nude person…dont get me wrong, i’m not asking for the halo “shield” style thing…in fact i was very impressed with all the thought and work that went into “call’s” bullet damage, based on weapons etc etc…
but i favor games with no radar, so when they came w/hardcore deathmatch, i was so pumped…no more dumb games with a bunch of 14 year olds shooting the red dots on their radar! but alas i soon found that the extra bullet damage thing was as gay as radar… the whole point of “no radar” is to be able to sneak and/or escape…what good is “no radar” if every time you catch a glimpse of someone…some nude person dies??
I agree with “*sigh*”, but it still is fun to argue about it. What is so freaking hard about pressing the shift key in ONCE to capitalize things? Is it that much of a hassle?
Also: I can’t connect to CoD 4 on the XBox Live networks, does anyone know when that problem will be resolved?
we need new scopes and weapons like ones available on campaign maybe higher level privlages like more than one weapon attachment and new attachments like the greeb laser all perks should be available ex. double tap stopping power and uav jammer should be able to used at same time. new maps map variants for differnet amount of players night and day options
The problem with sniping in cod4 is not holding your breath, the problem is simply that it is GLITCHY, at times i shoot my target several times while holding my breath and dont hit hime once. As for the holding of breath while it may not be 100% accurate it does add a realistic feel to the game. Overall i think cod4 is the best shooter to date, new maps and perks are coming with the update in January.
Lately the 360 version has had shitty connections and it’s damn near impossible to get into a game. Are the Xbox Live people tryting to fix it? Or am I the only one with this problem?
well Suppes your not the only one who owns a 360 who has that problem but i just played a few games and it seems that they are working on Lives network probkems. But this may just be because the lack of players online. so your not alone. whens the update coming out?

to you all stop bitching about which console is better you want graphics go build your self a custom computer with a 8 series nvidia card i had better graphics than all the consoles 4 years ago on a 5900le nvidia card personally i hate all the consoles the wii i got bored of easly the ps3 the controller is too small and awkard to use and the 360 cause its sooo unreliable i have an elite which is my 3rd xbox now i have a 40 inch 1080p samsung tv an ofc hdmi cable and it still looks shit all of them do but trustly pc is just top of the charts only problem is theres not a lot of games for it and about the sniper rifle i never shot one but i have shot a weihrauch hw57 with a 52×32x52 scope and i thought controlling your breath and just thinking about the target really helped me shoot it properly i mean i was only shooting beer cans in my back garden but it worked for me cod4 is an amzing game best fps for a while but the online at the moment is really glitching us all out and needs fixing i have a ps3 for the f1 racing game and gran turismo when that comes out i had a wii but sold it so really its not worth arguing about they all suck big time huge disapointment anyway i said what i wanted to say good luck with you debate

i own a ps3 and xbox i think there both equally as good apart from a few things wich the ps3 should have , like playin music while u play a game, being able to look at ur message with out having to quit ur game but upart from those its quality. As for the sniping what the hell you complaning about its easyer than halo still scope aproach. I am currently on my way to getting my gold drag’ though I have not unlocked the 50. cal in the second level of prestige. I much prefere the R700 and the other bolt action over the automatic any day + its much funnyer to point blank scope someone with a bolt action. Get iron lungs if you find it hard to snipe.

which is good as there was some crackers such as bioshock and arguably halo3.
halo3 single player was pretty much awesome, i thought it was a great finale to the series – although we can all agree it was criminally short (not to mention “legendary” not being difficult at all.) the multiplayer annoyed me lots…
The melee system was in a word: inconsistant, every game began with an instant bombardment of enough grenades to take out a small country, the IQ of 70% of the people you matched with was questionable and the sheer amount of whiney/squeaky kids was disgraceful. all-in-all though it was fun while it lasted, but wasn’t a skillful game like CoD or Rainbow Six.
currently, i’m writing this while unable to get a game of my beloved CoD becase of the rolling XboxLive blackouts, hopefully an issue that’ll be comletely fixed soon.
as for the on-going console wars, i can see where the ps3 people are coming from, however the full potential of the console itself will not be realised untill the future, sorry, but they just don’t make games /that/ good yet.
As for the xbox, (which i own) we have the Xbox Ultimate to look forward to *orgasm* with its 1080p hdmi, hi-def audio, tv program recording capabilities, i could go on 
but i honestly don’t see a huge difference in the two consoles that merits a full-out war over. maybe with the hardcore tech-guys, but not with us plebs of society that put in a game and play it.
i do, however, feel let down by Microsoft (surprise surprise) not only is my console promised to break at some point in the future, but i have to spend its last months (or days) playing single player assassins creed (disappointing) or mass effect (again).
ps. i reply to the sniper debate, i’ll add this: when you press the stick in to steady the aim, does anyone else’s guy start slowly edging right or left? i dunno if it’s just because i’m a spaz and cant press a stick in, but its kinda annoying soping my 100th headshot with my .50cal then walking into an airstrike. lol.

I own both systems. Both are Great, PSN works XBox Live Sucks. PS3 Menus are prettier, XBox has more games. PS3 Games are okay, but besides Warhawk and Heavenly Sword, I really haven’t found any games that separate it from the XBox and make it a better system. Maybe it is better specs wise and the blu-ray is awesome, but from a gaming system standpoint, my PS3 usually sits there off while I play my XBox 360.
I also have it for both systems. And sure enough…you are wrong. The PS3 versions graphics are crap compared to the 360 and the gameplay on the 360 blows the PS3 out of the water. Sry dude……360 owns all.
