Call of Duty 4 on Xbox 360 Getting Title Update

Infinity Ward is planning a title update for the 360 version of Call of Duty 4. There’s no release date for the update yet, which will focus on matchmaking optimization and adding some new features, including a killcam on airstrikes and claymores and host migration. The latter is especially important, since getting knocked out of a party because the host has left the game is incredibly annoying.
Here’s the full list of potential features that will show up in the update, according to a forum post by IW community manager fourzerotwo:
Additions / New Features:
- Added Kill cam to Airstrike bombs and Claymores
- Addition of Host Migration so if Host Leaves auto-chooses next best host
- Tweaked the following Oldschool Mode settings based on feedback:
- Added Unlimited Sprint
- Increased Magazine Size
- Added Ragdoll Cam
- Addition of New “N0M4D” Control Scheme
Optimizations / Tweaks:
- Identify party by background color (in Lobby)
- Optimized server selection for first match for better connections
- Improved network performance for 18 player games
- Optimized ‘Chase Cam’ when Spectating
- Fixed Playlist error when attempting to join from other games
- Handle Corrupt Create A Class data instead of kicking player
What about PS3? We also suffer from the same frustrations. The only reason why I’m not playing COD4 is because of the matchmaking options. No option to sends messages, no way to invite friends, no way to see others ranks in friends list, no way to change teams, crap invitation system that fails, reset of class name everytime I go online, etc. They need to fix that shit or COD4 isnt worth playing.

It’s not the Playstation Nextwork, It’s the Infinity War s2pid! I have both console and the game runs better on playstation 3 no doubt and the graphics is way better on the Playstation 3, How do I know this? because i rented the 360 version and compared it to ps3. I have the elite by the way so both uses HDMI. PS3 still dominates.

There are probably several answers as to why PSN doesn’t have it yet, but this is the one I find most plausible. Live has more people so far, so developers are trying to make more money by making stuff for a larger number of people and advertising their product on a better known system. Speculating* that the previous statement is true, it is because of the developers.
*I say speculating as in a hypothetical situation. I am not trying to imply anything against anyone.
what about fixing the sniping gun with COD 4. Thats the stupidest way to snipe having to hold the other button to hold your breath, if not the gun sways and cannot get a good shot. Thats dumb.
I love similar games and any real person shooting dont have to hold their breath for a accurate shot. This is why i now HATE COD4. if this is not fixed, i will be pawning this off. I often shoot real rifles and have in the past, Never have i had to hold my breath for a accurate shot. COD4 Blows because of this.

COD4 is amazing the level up feature is great! It will keep me playing alot longer then Halo did. Halo kinda sucks by the way! And who cares about PS3 it will be $99.99 soon anyways it sucks!

I have been a sniper for the U.S. Marine Corps for 6 years and I can shoot a dime at 300 yards consistantly! the proper way to shoot a rifle is to control your breathing, not to hold your breathe. I dont know what they taught that other marine, he must just be a cook in the mess hall. Never completely hold your breathe, just slow it and control it!
oh, and by the way COD4 along with halo 3 are the best FPS’s ever made! video games are not strictly about graphics, they are about the level of fun. If you dislike either game its because you suck at them, come talk to me if u want some lessons, ps. the desert eagle is the best weapon on COD4 just like in counterstrike for the pc
The silenced P90 with Double Tap perk is the best weapon in COD4. The desert eagle does kick serious ass though.

Is anyone having some serious issues with the fall update and playing COD4 online? My friends and I have a hard time joining each others party and getting into games. Do you know when xbox live will fix this fuck up cause it’s annoying as shit?
BTW, I’m not military or anything but I do know that controlling your breathing is what you do, not holding your breath. But it’s a fuckin game and it adds a little realizm. Quite being picky bastards.
why do some people complain about the sniping on this game i find it pretty easy and have completed nearly all the challenges on all of them and i don’t think they need to change it
1. the sniping does not need to change (you must not be that good at it)
2. who cares PS3 vs 360. I can’t believe you would waste your money renting it to prove a point on the internet when you could just watch the comparison videos online. If you want to bitch compare any system to the wii (now that’s bad graphics)

Breath control is extremely important in shooting a rifle.. My grandad was a WW2 sniper, my dad was not a sniper ( he was navy) but he was a excellent shot and aced the marine sharpshooting test and was on the navy rifle team and he said you hold your breath just before you pull the trigger and he learned from my grandad who spent WW2 picking off german officers from moving tanks.
Sadly from what I’m reading here, I can tell that those responding back and forth about what online is better are kids. Except for maybe one or two.
XBL is much better than PSN, on top of that it is also PSN’s fault and Infinity Ward. Why? Because PSN decided not to have that built in, so the game developers have to put that extra work if they want to do that.
Besides the PS3 is more powerful than the 360, its just crap in every way imaginable.
Rainbow Six is dead weight, has problems, not enough variaty.
Holding your breath is an important key to shooting accurately, hell that alone isn’t enough to keep it from moving, I felt Mass Effect made sniping more realistic in terms of holding breath = perfect dead on shot in COD4.
Sniping in COD4 is somewhat glitchy… infact everyone gun can’t seem to get a headshot sometimes. It isn’t that bad, but it happens.
Xbox360 can drop its price to keep it going for 10 years. If the PS3 is going to be $99.99 the 360 would be competing with the Wii at $50. You don’t honestly believe they will drop the price of the PS3 that much right? Hell they’d have to take everything out and give you a PS2. Just to make the PS3 $399.99 they had to take out backwards compatibility.
Daz your issue is either a glitch that rarely happens or you seriously have a bad connection or doing things wrong.
Halo3 sucked balls, it died within 2 days.

how old are you? 10 or 12 i would guess because you obviously don’t understand what people actually mean when they write stuff. When I say “controlling your breath” this means keeping it steady and not sporadic and when the time comes to take the shot you do hold your breath. When I say “holding your breath” this means you would hold your breath for the entire time beginning with looking through the scope, then aiming, and then taking the shot. If you were shooting a .22 at gofers then who gives a shit, but if you are truly “sniping” something then have fun holding your breathe the whole time.

for one, this forum is not specified for “console wars”
for two, I personally own all three systems and a 32″ hdtv. all the systems are different and have pros and cons but I love them all. These are the categories I would put them in:
Wii-a family console with great gameplay (especially with lots of people to play with). It doesn’t have the best graphics but is still fun to play. P.S. if this is such a sucky console then why is it the one that is sold out everywhere and impossible to find?
PS3-pro or recriational gamers. The PS3 in my opinion has the best graphics though some problems. It’s game selection isn’t that great but it does have a wide variety of games.
Xbox 360-pro or underground gamers. This is a great all around console and definately has the best online but its games are pretty limited to the “mature” rating. This is probably my favorite of the three but I like them all.
Just thought I’d leave my 2 cents. I own all three consoles as well and would like to say that PSN is no better OR worse than XBL. I want facts. Please, no flaming. I just wanted to bring that up. BTW, this post is way out of hand.

Xbox live and playstation netwrok r nearly the same. PSN takes longer to find matches and has less people but thats about it. So if u really think about it a ps3 doesnt cost much more than a 360 if u add on the price to play online. Wii sucks ass. It has nothing but simple games for simple people. The motion sensor doesnt even work that great. Id rather pick up monopoly if i have a group of friends over rather than play wii ping pong.

Call of Duty 4 is a very good game, but I would have to say Donky Kong is the greatest game ever.

Rainbow Six sniper is not realistic at all…stays steady as a rock…what, is he holding his breath the entire time hes looking down scope? so i can hold the scope up and hold my breath for 5 minutes straight? in call of duty, your character has to perform a bodily function: breathing. you have to hold your breath for the shot, so you do so just before you pull the trigger. besides, the extra button wont even effect your aim with default control scheme. not intenting of flame lenny, just trying to express my personal feelings on the matter haha

Y’all are being too hard on Xboxlenny. As he said it is his opinion but he still plays the game. Leave the poor guy alone. I for one still like Rainbow 6 better. Yes, the gameplay is slower, graphics are not as good, and some losers use the glitches but I like the fact it is more tactical (less run and gun) and of course a cover system exists which is completely lacking in COD4. As far as the glitches I’ve been in multiple matches where the players policed themselves. Members of the same team would tell other members to stop glitching. It was an excellent solution.
As for the Xbox vs. PS3 debate. Does the PS3 have an equivalent “red ring of death”? I was close to bailing on my Xbox and moving to PS3 when I struggled for weeks to get my console repaired.

I thought the sniping was quite good in this but then I like Sniper Elite where you also have to hold your breath and take bullet drop & wind into consideration.
its true that no game can really simulate realism accurately, but the closer it gets the better, in my opinion. and lay off of lenny guys, this is a place to loeave comments on an article, not a “which game/console/sniper is better” forum
