Call of Duty 4 `Bog Rescue` Gameplay Video
Finally! A Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare gameplay video! Infinity Ward released a new Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare video today which shows even though this Call Of Duty game is in a new “era”, the game still holds true to it’s Call of Duty roots.
The gameplay video does an excellent job of showing how hectic the levels still are and also show some amazing visuals such as smoke effects off in the distance, flares that illuminate the immediate area, and the use of night vision equipment. And it’s all currently in Pre-Alpha, so I could imagine what amazing visuals Call of Duty 4 will be capable of when it’s complete.

TOO FUNNY: 1 Perez: 0 = “BURNED”
You guys have no life argueing over such petty matters. Once the game is released you will all know what systems cod4 comes out for and wich one it’s better for.
Just cause we post something we have no life. I love that. But you know what is nice is that xbox 360 gets a beta.
when does it come out i still have not heard im a true pc player i have been with the call of duty serise since it started the Ps3 and XboX 360 have nothing on pc players! They play on the comp. and are shocked because of the difficulty in playing! if any1 could tell me when cod4 comes out i would like 2 know plz email me at cgb_1993@hotmail.com thank you very much and good night!
Yea, congrats to all the 360 users on the beta. The charlieoscardelta forums were a really nice play to discuss CoD4 rumors and whatnot. Then IW announced the 360 beta during E3, and the site got flooded with “OMG! BETA! HOW DO I SIGN UP?!??!?!?!?!!!???!??!!!!!!?!?!?!???!!!” threads.
You can’t for the life of you tell me (although it does have universal normality) that the 360 is REMOTELY a good place to host a beta. Although PC versions of CoD do have their set of the same people, there are far more gamers who have been with the series for four years and would (figuratively) give a limb to help IW with good feedback. What will they have now? Exactly the same thing that went wrong with the Halo 3 beta. Need a visual on that?

i just want to point out 1 thing about console FPS games. (well maybe a couple)
Has anyone ever notice that ALOT of the Console Fps games have AUTO AIM??? oh aimbot cheater!! haxor!! lol Now i know there are soemg ames that do not ahve auto aim but lets think of theese games for example Rainbow Six 3(i know its old but only thing i can think of). yes there is no auto aim but the movements in the game are slow… Thus getting rid of the need for auto aim.
Now pc Games have auto aim in signal player but are coded for the auto aim to be disabled in multi-player. Thus no one gets “assisted” in aiming their weapon. Now i know someone will say well this game has no auto aim. And maybe there are a few out there. buth then think of this. 2 players come around a corner and apss each other they are on oposite sides in the game. they have to take 3-5 seconds to turn all the way around to shoot each other. Now i find that very funny. In pc game this is less than a second gun fight normally.
Now back to the point if the game-pad is so much better why do most of the games have Auto Aim? I am neither PC or Console sided really. I just stating how i see it. I love my consoles cause of certaing ames on it and i love my pc for certain games. The only thing that makes me lean toward PC more is how you can create “mods”. (aka Counter-Strike was a MOD of Half-Life then later bought by valve) Thus making your money much mroe worth it. In that with 1 pc game you can get many mroe games do to “mods”.
@DeadEyeSavage
What PC games have you been playing that have auto-aim in single player? The only ones I can think of were The Suffering and its sequel, and that’s only because they were ports and the developers didn’t want to take the time to allow mouse sensitive movements
@question
Sorry, I’m too lazy right now to email. The release date has been rumored as late October/early November. It’ll basically be based on how well the beta goes.
Nov. 5th
I enjoy listening to all these console fools thinking that they are so much better than us PC players. I would love to be able to play against console players on my PC and kick their asses. And enough of this “omg pc’s are too expensive *cry, cry*”. A PC isn’t just used for gaming you idiots. And one thing I was wondering, are these perks going to be for PC too? or just the 360? Anyways can’t wait for this game, it’s going to be outta this world.
LOL morgan.. mate your a foolish foolish boy, get real sif a console will ever compete with a PC, when they learn how much PC’s are owning ur a$$ in shadowrun they will handi-cap us… Thats ok we will still own.
ANy PC owner can tell you what his/her specs are, coz they built it, know what your 360 specs are?? oops, nevermind, Like it matters………
Maybe its time for me to clear a few things up.
Actually going back onto topic.
Call of Duty 4 has received a lot of advertisement, even on the television. But who is advertising the game? because it cant be the developers can it, so it must be Microsoft. Now since Microsoft doesnt specialize in pc gaming, why would they even bother advertising it for the PC? No, they instead spend an awful lot of money grabbing the console fans, and tbh, its impressive. It may appear that Call of Duty 4 was in fact built for the console, when really, you have just got the wrong impression. The Call of Duty series developed by Infinity ward has always been a PC game series. The only valid reason for Infinity to change their perspective and aim would be money, and a hellish amount of it. Joining microsoft has given them an open opportunity for a massive profit. But as a result, they have had to show all the previews, all the reviews, and even the beta, on a 360 format, just to get the point across that it is going to be a brilliant console game. However, if you looked closely and actually listened to the guys who presented the game at E3, you would have heard a few keywords which gave the PC version a good name. Their is no fact to suggest that the console version is the “main version”, thats just an assumption. It is more reliable to suggest that the PC version will be the “main version”, purely because of the amount of experience Infinity Ward has under their belt.
Apparently the PC version also has certain advantages over the consoles version according to the devs, so i cant wait to see how it shapes up. Unfortunately, COD4 is under microsoft ruling, the beta release would have been for console for that reason. If it were up to infinity, i doubt they would have hesitated to give pc gamers a look.
reading some of the console/pc arguments.
you know what is great about the 360??
you dont need a new graphics card every time a new game comes out.
as for analogue controlers, its better than a keyboard, like on conflict desert storm.
damn, that was HARD!
by the way, i play both 360 and p.c, so I know of where i speak, so dont try telling me with is better. I ALREADY KNOW. ITS 360 HANDS DOWN.
@Arkeneaver
I’d like to quote everything Arkeneaver said. This has been proven time over with IW’s conferences/news releases/etc. Even the reason CoD2 basically never was patched for PC was due to CoD4’s development. CoD4 is a PC game, plain and simple.
@hacoc of smeg
A) You don’t need a new graphics card for every new game coming out for PC. Many people have had GPUs for a very long time and still play just-released games. Now, the graphics settings they may need to use just to run it may be low, but still playable. I just built a new comp a year ago so I can’t use that as an example, but the comp before that was built about 2 years before the 360. Today, I can still use that old computer to play Bioshock relatively well (doesn’t look the greatest, but still pretty good). Try that with an Xbox. Oh wait, you can’t. You need to buy a 360 to play Bioshock. People tend to forget that. PCs have a HUGELY longer lifespan than the typical 4/5 year console. Granted, by that time, the PC will struggle to play “next-gen” games, but it can still play them. The point of buying a new videocard every so often is to actually stay up with the games, pushing them to their limits rather then them pushing back on the cards. New cards are people’s preferences. If I bought a new graphics card today, it would be because I need it, yes. But for DX10. I can still play Bioshock and, presumably, Crysis in DX9, but if I upgraded to a DX10 card, I could push the games to their brink and not shutter. Can a 360 do that? Nope, sorry. Not even the 360 can handle the ultimate that Bioshock, and many new games, can dish out. Hmm… two years and it’s already behind in the game. Oh well.
B) As stated a thousand times, controllers vs keyboard/mouse is up to preference. But to say “w00t! controllers ftw!” without defending that statement at all is very telling. It says you’re a console fanboy (and I don’t mean that in a bad way) with no real comparison between the two forums of play. You may say that you play both PC and console, but there is no possible reason you can tell me (oops, that sounds biased) why a controller is better for an FPS. Originally, the controller was designed for side-scrollers, the joystick for flight sims, and the mouse for shooters (minus the Doom days). Not only does the mouse/keyboard combo have the best in customization, it also allows for superior movement over the controller, both in walking/running and sight. What do you think they based the dual analog sticks on? And the mere fact that this is true adds a level of difficulty to FPS games on PC because the other guy has the same advantage. You need to be quicker with every respect in order to stay atop the competition. Jumping into the air like in Halo is a death sentence in most PC FPSs, not a tactical maneuver.
damn that WAS hard! Maybe you should come up with some backing to your claims, and then maybe I’ll actually respect what you have to offer the world.
“so I know of where i speak, so dont try telling me with is better.”
Too late. I already told you with is better, because I couldn’t understand half the things you typed.
@everyone
If you think I’m bashing consoles, I’m not. They’re what most people grew up with, and there are majorly fun/challenging games out there for every system (maybe not the PS3
). That does not however include FPS games. That is all. Sorry for the novel
@apricots
i get wat your saying, but i was actually a pc gamer before i turned to consoles, and your right about graphics cards lasting a while, but sooner or later(say after 5+ years), you WILL have too upgrade.
were as with 360/ps3/wii or any console, you will be able to play all games ever released, but to play ALL pc games, upgrade IS needed, even if it is a few years down the line.
and i do have comparison between pc and console. i often use both in the same day for the same type of games.
i guess it does come down to with you like best, but 9 times out of ten, i have found console controller simplicity the best, at least for me.
and out of curioustity, you havnt played conflict desert storm on p.c have you??
for me the only exception really is command and conquer type games.
i also am a console fanboy, but i am ALSO a p.c fanboy. i just have come to prefer consoles in light of upgrades and controller preferance.
I just wasted 10 minutes of my life reading all these comments…i am a console fanboy, but i do have to say, pc games kick butt when it comes to graphics.I still like controllers better, all you do is increase the sensitivity to your prefered setting…it’s just opinion.
pc is the best… can u do this wid ur dumb consoie’s
. nooooooooo!! u need a PC.
Ok, enough. It’s time to settle the score between computers and consoles.
There is no doubt that PC’s are superior compared to consoles in any game
there ever will be released. This conclusion is based on the facts that games
are developed on computers, computers have superior controllers and computers
are always ahead when it comes to hardware powers.
However. It is very hard (time consuming) to develop games for PC’s, since there
are many possible customer computer setups. This forces the developers to create
multiple settings for the game, so one can play with the best setup for his/hers
computer. This gets us to the problem why games released at the moment are first
designed to current consoles.
The problem at the moment is that pc’s dont get to use their full power, since the games are developed with the consoles in mind. In otherwords the
current consoles are holding Pc’s back. This is because the consoles together
have a bigger market for games than the pc’s, and developers wish to create games for those markets, and don’t have time and resourcess to create the same
game from scratch with a more sophisticated and better engine for top notch computers.
Conclusion: Consoles are the evil power holding back the development of
bigger, stronger, faster and more realistic games. If there never were any
consoles we would have farcry 3 already.
P.S. First Halo was a bad port of Duke Nukem 3D from pc’s. Duke had superior
aiming with a mouse support, better and bigger network and don’t forget it was
released like 100 years ago.
Oh i almost forgot about dukes network interactivity. When i rpg’d my friends ass,
i could make duke say: “i got balls of steel”, “shake it baby” etc. Halo? NADA
@petey boy
you can you ignorant $%^$. never used a PS3, thats got broadband internet and keyboard ad-on.
@Thw TRUTH
like they are better. i would say that p.c graphics are very on par with current gen(360, ps3) HDTV graphics.
as for controllers i would say that a 360 controller is simpler and therefor faster than using a keyboard and mouse. you cant really use the mouse for EVERYTHING in an FPS such as halo.
you need a move key, aim, reload, shoot and cycle weapon for FPS’s. you cant have that ALL on a mouse, but you can with a controller. and if you need to use a keyboard, with you do, you have to make sure you dont accidently press the wrong button and screw up, therefor slowing you down a bit, allowing your opponent all the more time to kill you.
and who said you have to make games from console equivelants?
try justifying your comments, instead of just spouting your thoughts.
p.s do you really believe the opinion of a man WHO SPELLS ‘THE’ WITH A ‘W’!?!?!?!?
….and when exactly did we stop talking about the Call of Duty 4 video that’s featured in this article? Man, this entire conversation totally derailed.
Rofl…
I Agree w/ havoc…
I played CoD 2 in my PC and sometimes press the wrong button and get myself killed when i played CoD 4 beta on 360… lol i pwnd everyone ‘cuz i didnt do any mistakes like pressing the wrong button.
So what you are saying here Dono is that you are a horrible gamer? It’s amazing how many people can do good on a console game that actually are pathetic gamers. The controller was designed to help noobs like dono over here not get completely raped every single round. Good game, PC for the win.
You walk around with your hands open , you rest your hands over a keyboard and mouse , you dont walk around with a brick in your hands, thats how you hold a controller
( yes i no you can plug one into a pc ,and theres probably adds around for pc game controller’s , but no one would sugest to you that it would be better to use a controller than a mouse/keyboard for your new fps pc game, even the nice chap at the pc store would laugh at you for even thinking it).
The point is . Its bloody comon sence that you can move your hand , a flick of the wrist and use fingers quicker , with more ease when there over the top of an object rather than holding one .
Its not an argument , its a fact .
Yes you can get used to thumb controllers and own everyone but plug your controller in a pc and you wont even get a chance to aim before your hit.
So one day your controller may be better than my mouse/keyboared combo.But for now it aint, If im wrong ,controllers would be marketed for a pc gamer , thing is there not .
Why do i care ?
Because i would hate to think some kid goes and buys a controller for his pc because his mate who owns a 360 said its better, Then gets abused for being such a nub.
And dont go round saying pc gaming is dying out , its totaly different from console gaming and if you owned a pc you would no thats theres hundreds of garage games out there also mods people come up with to change the look and feel of a game and theres a few free games around that ant to bad.
Hardly dying , its more like develpoing even more than before.
Good graphics in a game are a bonus dosent make it a better game, so for me since i play cod2 in dx7 mode
360s look way better than my pc does , but i cant stand the slugish controlls. so ill stick with my out of date pc thank you.
A true gamer plays a game for FUN
No matter wht there playing the game on , ass long ass there having a good time, thats wht its all about.
So if i get cod4 to work on my pc , ill cya in there..
Ok to settle this, here’s a quote for you. It’s from Gamespot’s interview with Infinity Ward studio head Grant Collier…. (who probably knows a bit more about the subject)
“GS AU: Call of Duty 4 is coming out for the 360 and for PCs. Why did you decide not to include Live cross-platform functionality?
GC: We got a call from Microsoft who said they want us to do Live Anywhere for CoD 4. They just left a message–we didn’t actually get the phone call. We talked about it, and really feel that we worked really hard on the Xbox 360 version, and there’s a lot of things that we do that we didn’t do for the PC because of the control you have with a mouse and keyboard which allows you to have a higher level of precision. When you are on the 360, you have auto-aim, and you have a movement compensator so when you’re getting close to the edge of the screen it moves really quickly, but when you’re in the middle of the screen it slows down so you can target. We don’t do that on the PC.
When someone is playing on the Xbox against another player, he knows that they have the same hardware and the same controller–the only advantage is skill. On the PC side, you never know what the guy is playing with. He can have an archaic machine, or he could set his settings low, or he could be using the lowest form of DirectX. He can have all of the graphic bells and whistles turned off, or can have a dual core machine, or a quad core, multiple video cards–he can have a lot of advantages, and there’s not an equal playing field.
I think Live Anywhere is great for certain games, like Poker or Tetris or something. But, realistically, for first-person shooters or real-time strategy games, trying to pit those two people together is inherently imbalanced. Anytime someone playing an RTS can click and drag and choose a whole bunch of units and select one of your buildings to blow it up, and you’re sitting there with a controller, you’re not going to have the same reaction time. So why pit those two against each other?
I think Live is a great idea and it’s good for certain games, but Call of Duty isn’t one of those games. ”
Now I’ve got an Xbox controller attached to my PC which goes unused most of the time. Don’t get me wrong, for certain types of (arcade) games it’s perfect but for driving games, I’ll use my G25. For FPS/RTS I’ll use my mouse & keyboard thank you very much.
I just wish they were including cross-platform multi-player so this argument could be settled in-game
I think the gamepad users would get VERY bored VERY quickly though .. lol
Anyway, sorry for the long post. Looking forward to the game, look v nice
you know what? i dont think i care anymore!!
so much yelling, so much bitchiness about this.
how bout we just agree we like something that not everyone else does and leave it at that?
Good point havoc, pc owns all
It’s a poor carpenter who blames his/her tools.
While I do think a PC is faster, and more accurate, it would be hard to make an arguement against that, I feel console shooters feel more immersive. PC shooters, and I’ve played many, always felt a little like missle command. Put your mouse here and shoot. That is until the first Call of Duty came out on PC. Best FPS shooter to date no question at that time. Online play, and play hardened single player, and you felt the rush.
A lot of those console one off Call of Duty’s sucked, but the online Call of Duty 3 was pretty amazing.
Console shooters are more fun for ME cause they feel more immersive. Being the fastest and most accurate in the world isn’t my goal. It’s having fun, and I’m still plenty fast and accuarate (without auto aim) As long as I’m kicking ass, I dont wonder, how much faster could I be on a PC.
I do think it’s ammusing though, that every “PC gamer” bitches about the controller being a baby’s toy, that just seems crotchety and old.
Learn to diversify. Kick ass in all that you do.
@stupidgill
“Learn to diversify. Kick ass in all that you do”
well said.
ps3 is the best! woohoo! and i got a ds lite n im gunna get splinter cell cos its a gr8 game 4 travelling!
ps3 is definately the best right!?!? huh!? i cnt wait 2 get cod 4 sgunna be awesome i love those type of games!! its bril!!!!
to: fagbag….i am not fat, and weather i am ugly or not is your decision because beauty is different to everyone, and i am not stuck up or conceited. If you’d like to see for urself, or anyone else for that matter, myspace.com/evil_punk_girl_21 you can look at my myspace pics. I have xfire, i can snap a pic if u think its someone else’s link i dont really care, but you are the same as most guys, thinking just because i play online games im some fat ugly chick and there are lots of beautiful woman who play games now.
@Evil~Punk_Girl
single?
xfire is maxamillion44 all add!?!?!?!?!
Why don’t they make Call Of Duty and Medal of Honor Games for the PS2 anymore do they want u to spend fricken $600.00 for a dam PS3 and $450.00 for a XBOX360 or what? I tell ya what it’s not going to happen with me that’s for sure. They’re in it for their own BIG Paychecks to be upped for these purchases. Scam artist is what they are is all.
Jose Perez has got it right there. There are no comparisons to getting WASDed on a PC rig. Sure you shell out some dollars, but the end result IS worth the trouble.
I was a PC gamer once but u gotta admit PC gaming isn’t to realistic compared to consoles. I was just playing Call of Duty United Offensive but i just stopped after 10 minutes after i saw everyone was practically running at the speed of sound and there was atleast one wall hacker
now i have a 360 and I love it For any Xbox Live people my gamer profile is: RedGaurd114 but i wont get gold membership for another few weeks
PS: i have no idea wut ur talking about right now the comments were just getting to long
Canuck how stupid are you? lmao read a book please
I agree with Canuck, most pc online pc games have hacks that make the game boring and over rated.
Console games require no skill at all, which is why everyone can be good at it. PC games require skills so in conclusion pc owns all, good game.
acyually bro this is the actual game play pay attention to the video when it says checkpoint reached and hold x to switch guns you dont know what your talking about
lmao @ weclock….no sorry i am married. xfire is Punkylicious if anyone wants to add me. COD4, PC, 07 Nov
this is actual gameplay right!?! wow looks very kl im so excited bout this game cnt wait 2 get a ps3 and the first game i get will b this then after a few months wen i have more money i will buy resistance fall of man but im not really sure my m8’s got it n its well gd!
PC games can be fun, but ill give up a little gay mouse pad precision in order to sit back in my lazy boy with my headset and controller and play my game on my fifty inch television, because games are supposed to be chill and fun.
also, how is it that pc games require anymore skill? because of the mouse and keyboard? my 6 month old niece could point a mouse cursor on an enemy and click the button, but i bet she couldnt use a dual analog…and like that novel said above, pc’s are rarely equal in games, so when you think youre good youre probably just playing against someone with a lesser machine, whereas when i own on a console i know they are playing on the same thing and am truly just better.
Grubb have you read any of the other posts? You are an idiot…lol. Pc ftw noob
Ok here i believe this will make console vs pc argument stop. Compueters were firtsly invented for actualy warfare and the first few computers (though A LOT weeker then ours) where a few rooms large. Then they eventualy became more standardised fort buisnees which is what even in todays world they are mostly meant for. Eventualy a few gamesd where developed for PCs and you know teh rest.
Consoles where invented for video games and they later added some extra features but they still have the same standard use. Which would you use for gaming, somethign that was invented for it, or somehting that was invented for buisness and has some games that for most poeple I know will be on about 8 fps. PC games are good but console games have a much better feel.
Pc ftw.
@Maxa
how am I stupid? Is it because i have a different opinion then u? If it is then obviously u r a PC Fanboy, seriously grow up, and um u can use a keyboard and a PS3 controller with the 360 but you have to buy a $60 Convertor made by MadCatz which is really a ripoff and defeats the purpose of a console. Anyways one thing we can all agree on the game will pwn on all 3 consoles…… and the PC
Just to let everyone know. Believe it or not its a highly modified Quake 3 engine! (And yes, I am a animator in the game industry and yes this did come from the lead modelers mouth at an Activision Party) They did a fatastic job
