Bourne Game Too Violent for Matt Damon

If you continue to wonder why Matt Damon didn’t lend his voice and likeness to The Bourne Conspiracy, there’s no longer a need — developer High Moon Studios’ Meelad Sadat revealed to MTV Multiplayer that Damon had problems with the game’s level of violence.

Apparently, Damon was already in negotiations to reprise his Bourne role within the game when development was first starting. But one of the many targets of Team America: World Police felt that the violence was too extreme and with drew from negotiations. It’s not particularly surprising, given the stance Damon’s mother has on violent games, but it’s really a shame that he felt like he would somehow help protect children by not being involved. I guess he’s never heard of ESRB ratings.

I’ve written numerous times about how big a fan of the Bourne movies I am, and not having Damon in Conspiracy might end up making it something I don’t purchase. The developers aren’t too upset, though, as they’ve been able to create their own Bourne for players to become invested in.

If he was appalled by the violence in the video game, I can only imagine what will happen when he watches the Bourne movies.

  • Isaac says:

Yeah, The Departed was totally non-violent. What a nice guy, looking out for kids and all…

more like they didn't pay him 30million

  • DD says:

rofl yeah the bourne movies wern't violent at all, not when he snapped the police officers neck in munich and interrogated the assassin in the hayfields while he was bleeding from several gunshot wounds, being a hypocrite is OK as long as you drive a jaguar and have a status.

  • Gigarayzor says:

Meh, I find good actors don't always make good voice actors.

  • mooshimooshi says:

ah so the movie with the most point-blank shots to the head in movie history ISN'T violent? shyah, right…

  • Xboxlenny says:

looser. he must own a tv, and making violent/action movies isnt enough? violence is everywhere in most all stories and action movies, it wouldnt be any action if it wasent. i guess he wont be playing GTA IV

  • Siverback says:

It doesn't matter how many games or movies he doesn't make. Until parents start doing their jobs it won't matter. Parents have to be adults and watch what they are letting their kids see and play. It's the parents job. What I find so incredulous is that Spielburg, the Producer of Jurassic Park said, 'It is too violent I will not take my kids to see it.' Yet he basically makes and produces that which he knows is destructive. How hypocritical! How much more narcicism in Hollywood are we going to take as American's before we say enough is enough. :?:
