Blizzard will soon be selling a new Authenticator which will generate a limited time, six digit security code for added security for World of Warcraft players’ accounts.
Recently, some WoW users have reported that their accounts has been compromised bykeyloggers or hackers – therefore, the new Authenticator promises to protect against this by requiring an additional code to be entered every time the players logs on.
According to Mike Morhaime, Blizzard’s CEO and co-founder:
“It’s important to us that World of Warcraft offers a safe and enjoyable game environment. One aspect of that is helping players avoid account compromise, so we’re pleased to make this additional layer of security available to them.”
The Authenticator will become available starting this weekend during Blizzard’s Worldwide Invitational in Paris for €6/$6.50 from the company’s website or via mail order for the same prices plus shipping.
