Blizzard Rumor: New Title Announcement Coming at 1 AM Tomorrow

Kotaku is reporting that a source has informed them that the announcement of the new Blizzard title (whatever it turns out to be) will be coming at around 1 AM Pacific tomorrow. Coincidentally, it’s about the same time that the announcement will hit at WWI over in Korea.
Speculation still runs rampant over what it may be. Personally, I think we’re going to see a new Starcraft RTS. Why? Several things point to this…
- First off, it’s being announced in Korea, the undisputed Starcraft capital of the world.
- WoW is still far too hot for Blizzard to be thinking about launching a new MMO. The best they can hope for is to pick up a few hundred thousand ex-WoW players, or Starcraft fans who don’t already play WoW. The rest of the playerbase would be split between WoW and the new MMO.
- The whole thing with the Starcraft 2 domain name is pretty telling as well.
- Back to the location of the announcement. If the new title was WoW related or Diablo related, I’d expect to see this come at Blizzcon in August, not tomorrow in Korea.
In any event, the one thing we can all agree on is this: Whatever this title is, it will make money like Blizzard is PRINTING it.

The starcraft2.com domain apparently was bought by blizzard in 1999. Not to say it won’t be starcraft related, but the domain has been around for almost a decade…
