BioWare’s Take On The EA Acquisition

A revealing Q&A on Gamasutra reveals BioWare’s take on the recent Electronic Arts acquisition. President and co-executive producer Greg Zeschuk and chairman, CEO and co-executive producer Ray Muzyka discussed the deal from their perspective shedding a very positive light on the subject. The BioWare execs outline what the studio will gain, and how the change will effect maintaining the freedom to continue developing in their idiosyncratic style.
The company maintains ownership of its IPs such as Mass Effect and doesn’t anticipate becoming EA Edmonton.
RM: You gotta go back to our mission statement in the studio: to deliver the best story-driven games in the world. I think that really says a lot about what our value set is and what we’re trying to pursue. I think we’re excited to pursue that, and innovate even more in that space.
