Rumors are still circulating about whether or not BioShock will be ported to the PS3 in the future. Kotaku listed a few lines of code spotted by gamers in the PC demo’s config.ini file that certainly appear to beg the question of 2K’s future intentions for BioShock.

[Console]

Console (XBox360, PS3) specific settings

StreamingDynamicFloatingLimit:

If this is a positive number, then instead of using the fixed per-level limits, the StreamingDynamic resource will use as much memory as is available as long as the total memory allocated by the game is less than the specified number. In other words, StreamingDynamic will grow and shrink to fit to the available memory instead of being locked to a fixed budget
StreamingDynamicFloatingLimit=500

GamePro claims to have an inside source that confirms it would be “wrong to think the game wouldn’t be released on Sony’s console at a later date.”

However official word from the 2K Forums is still a definitive no.

There have been no announcements from 2K or Irrational Games that BioShock will be ported to other systems.

Are PS3 fans destined to be disappointed, or is 2K taking a cue from Sony and biding its time before making a big announcement. I personally believe it would be a shame if BioShock doesn’t eventually port to the PS3. It could only be a winning move for 2K if it does, bringing more fans and more money in for a terrific game.

    Simple. Microsoft doesn’t want the PS3 to become too big too quick, so they’re pushing for any games they can to do an exclusive or at least time exclusive, so if you want that game bad enough but don’t have the hardware you’ll go out and buy a 360 or upgrade your computer. Thats why I bought a PS3, the most advance cell processor for a home entertainment machine to date and all next gen games will be designed under its specs. so no compatibility issues. And playstation has the largest library, free online, tru hd w/ blu ray…

  2. XGrad02 says:

    Largest library of what? previous gen games, sure bet!

    Ken Levine has confirmed that Bioshock will remain exclusive to Xbox and Windows. And yes let’s all tote the whole Cell nonsense. Sony says it works, developpers say they can’t get more than 3 of the co-processors to work for any given game. Oh and 30 FPS for Madden 08 as opposed to 60 FPS on X360? Great gaming machine!

    The last 10 years has seen nothing from Sony but overpriced junk. I sure hope the PS3 makes a great DVD player, because it currently sucks as a console.

    :neutral: you dont have to be such a fan boy, both systems are really good and thery both have some great exclusive games coming up…why do you take it so personally if someone compliments a system you hardly know anything about….i have both a 360 and a PS3, they are two systems that were worth every penny….sony and microsoft both put out incredible and revolutionary consoles….chill out you 360 fan boy

    I’ve heard rumors that Gears of War 2 is going to the PS3 so if Gears of War is going to the PS3 why not Bioshock :???:

  5. Grimsby says:

    Cliffy said they only just managed to get Gears running smoothly on the 360’s 512mb of RAM and that the PS3 has half that. Still though, as soon as I have enough money I’m going to get a PS3 to go with my 360… and get a new comp… and a huge hdtv… Damn my unwillingness to work!
