BioShock Movie: Don’t Expect “Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey Hunting for Pirate Treasure”

According to recent interview with hunky Ken Levine at Develop in London, VG247 learned that BioShock movie director Gore Verbinski “gets” the BioShock franchise.
“You’re always going to be worried that in that first meeting they’re going to be, like, ‘OK, it’s Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey on a desert island hunting for pirate treasure,’ but it’s not going to go that way.
My expectation at this time, from everything that I’ve heard, is that it will very much honor the dramatic and thematic elements of the game… They certainly understand the material and are able to provide a stamp of their own.”
While Levine admitted to VG247 that he has not seen any rough footage of the movie in progress, he did state that Verbinski and script writer John Logan are actively involved in the project.
“I think they’re a little generous with their time. It’s hard, just in the fact it’s a movie. You have to walk that line between the fact that it’s a property you love, and honoring that property, and realizing it’s a game. We’ve sat down a couple of times and had conversations, and we’ve talked with John who’s working on stuff.”
The movie is expected to be released sometime in 2010. For the full story, hit the link at the bottom of the post, and while you are at it, thank the gaming gods that nothing as horrible as Hudson or McConaughey will be part of BioShock the movie. Plus, I think that if I were to see that shirtless prat one more time, I might just gouge my eyes out right after I throw my lunch up.
Thanks: VG247

hehe – i liked the “related movie” better (translated – how to teach your flatmate not to steal your food). It´s in german, but i guess that is not a problem in this case
