Big Monsters in the Spotlight at Lord of the Rings Online

Some monsters deserve big attention. This week the creature spotlight at The Lord of the Rings Online site falls upon a large target as the site takes an in-depth look at the Giants of Middle-earth. While the giant is a common creature in classical fantasy there is little to no mention of them in The Lord of the Rings books so Turbine has taken the opportunity to expand and mold them into the mythology in a Tolkein-like fashion.

The giants of Middle-earth, while rarely mentioned and never described in great detail in The Lord of the Rings books, are an important part of the design of The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar. Mysterious and powerful though they are indeed, the giants are also a rare mix of both terrifying monster and potential ally for the Free Peoples of Middle-earth.
