Beowulf – ‘Foundation’ Trailer

The “Foundation” trailer for Beowulf is the newest in a series of videos from Ubisoft and 4HEAD Studios to get the public acquainted with the game. Although scheduled to release concurrently with the motion picture, the storyline and videos appear to separate the game from the movie – which would be a very smart move. Unlike some of the previous videos we have received from the developers, this one tells much more about the game in general.

For example, in the masterpiece of English Literature that IS Beowulf, the story spans the lifetime of our hero from the time he is commissioned to slay the terrible monster Grendel until the time of our hero’s demise slaying a dragon – after he had become King. The game takes place during the 30-years after becoming King when Beowulf defines his legacy and his tale becomes the stuff of legend.

This combat-driven action/adventure game – saturated with Norse mythology and innovative fighting system will make this game a must-have for action adventure enthusiasts and personally I cannot wait to get my hands on it. One cool thing worth mentioning is the ability to eat sacred mushrooms and go into berserker mode (called Carnal Fury), where you will become unstoppable – but on the same token, you will loose all sense of reality and start to slaughter your own men. This addition to the gameplay and storyline will sound familiar to anyone who has ever immersed themselves in Norse mythology.
