The UK’s British Board of Film Classification has ruled that Grand Theft Auto IV is cleared for release with no additional cuts necessary.
The BBFC played over 5 hours gameplay and 8 hours of cut scenes before giving their approval. The board noted that GTAIV does include mature content including “strong violence, very strong language, very strong sex references and drugs use,” as well as cocaine use, masturbation and (un)healthy doses of blood spray. The game is rated 18.
GTAIV is one of the most anticipated games of the year and expected to be a best seller. It launches April 29 in Europe.
