Gearbox president Randy Pitchford confirmed via an interview with Shacknews that Battlestar Galactica writers Bradley Thompson and David Weddle wrote the script for the upcoming FPS Aliens: Colonial Marines.

“They’re amazing guys. They gave us a lot, too. We could make a whole season of TV with the stuff they gave us.”

Pitchford also mentioned that Syd Mead would be be concept artist for the game. Mead designed the Sulaco spaceship from the Aliens movies and did a lot of work on one of my favorite movies of all time, Bladerunner. Mead will also be designing areas inside the Sulaco that were not shown in the movies.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is expected to be released for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 during the beginning of 2009. Of course, we have also been told the last part of 2008, but 2009 looks more likely.
