FYI, the rest of the film is not on this clip. Near the end you see the mother stop mid-sentence and walk away. She actually was going to get the real Xbox. What happened was she caught the boy sneaking a peak at his presents and decided to remove the Xbox and replace it with clothes to teach him a lesson. Cruel? Yes. The punishment didn’t really fit the crime, but this was not just some huge practical joke. The kid was heartbroken for about 3 minutes, but did get the Xbox, and I’m sure with a lot of resentment towards his parents.

Poor kid. I’d gladly donate some money, so he could get an xbox. He would just have to promise me that hes parents wouldn’t be allowed to play it.

@Spiral: trust me.. JT isn’t going away anytime soon. The only thing that will make him go away is if enough states remove his right to practice law. I think the more he’s exposed as a quack, the more likely that will happen.

People didn’t see him as a threat to the music and radio industries and he did quite a bit of damage in those arenas. I don’t think we should glorify him at all, but I don’t see anything wrong with exposing him. If game media hadn’t exposed him at all, all the crap he says on Fox News would be believed by the general public.

But how about we stop glorifying JT? Every time a story on a gaming site mentions his name he just gets more press. If we treated him like any other flamer and just ignored him, he’d eventually go away.

Why the crap are you jumping on the parents? The kid is still getting a load of free crap for X-Mas (on top of free food and a house to sleep in), quit your bitchin’. This isn’t going to “taint his Christmas memories for years to come”.

This IS going to be his strongest Christmas memory ever, but in a couple years he will come to enjoy fondly this memory of the funniest Christmas present he ever received.

Personally, I think the family posted the video just because they thought it was funny. The entire scenario was probably staged from the beginning.

@Kev_M: As Engadget pointed out, it does say that in the description. And the family did say he got his 360 and they would put that video up on YouTube, and yet, if you look at their account, there is no other video up. I believe they said that in the description in order to save themselves from backlash without having to get their child a real Xbox 360.

This is rather cruel and heartless.

But its taken alittle out of context.
The proper YouTube video for this clearly states that the kid sneaked a peek in the wrapping the night before.
So they used the box and filled it with clothes as a lesson.

Still rediculously cruel and mean, but the kid did actually get a Xbox 360.

So just to put this video in context.

Still have to be pretty sickly minded to get ‘revenge on him’ in this manner tho, and to flat out laugh in his face.

That was just cruel and heartless. You could see the pain in his eyes, wondering how and why would you do that to me then laugh in my face.

I gave my daughter that first reaction of dropping the box when she first got her DS. She didn’t think she was getting one. Plus when I bought a Wii right under her nose when she was in Toys R’ Us with me. How she didn’t see it in the bag is a mystery but the joy on her face is a wonderful gift. All you parents know when you’re children look at you with those unconditional loving eyes.

These parents were just plain mean and disrespectful.
