Australia Bans Blitz

The Office of Film and Literature, Australia’s governing body when it comes to video game ratings, has refused classification to Midway’s Blitz: The League, in essence banning the title. At issue is the game’s many references to drug use. The League gives teams the opportunity to use various illegal substances to enhance performance, at the cost of player injury, even going so far as to offer “fake urine” as an in-game item. While I’m not too fond of the concept of doping in a sports title, I’m really not fond of game censorship.
