Get out your magnifying glasses. An industrious reader over at GoNintendo managed to grab a scan of the cover for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed DS game. Although Ubisoft is still as tightlipped as ever, this picture is word at least a couple hundred words.
Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles is a prequel to the console title. It’s set solidly in the medieval world and rendered in mind blowing 3D to deliver the scale of the original Assassin’s Creed in miniature. The game promises swordfights, acrobatics, combo attacks, and stealth assassinations… all the fun parts of the original Assassin’s Creed. You’ll still be sneaking around relieving (hopefully) unsuspecting people of their financial burdens with the stylus. Apparently you’ll also be using it to convince them to tell you their darkest secrets as well. Apparently the wide array of weapons available, the ability to interrogate people with a stick and the many, many ways to finish off foes have earned Altair’s Chronicles a T for Teen rating from the ESRB.
There are a few things that I would hope they have left out. For instance, sneaking while on horse back. And how about the long arduous journey as you slink all the way up to the castle and back.
I never understood how Altair could blend into the crowd by walking slowly when he was obviously armed to the teeth. Who me? I’m just a simple peasant on the way to the market, with a scimitar… and a dagger or three.

Let’s just all hope it doesn’t suck.
