Another Post about Rock Stars in Video Games

Last week, I posted a fun little video from MTV showcasing Aerosmith, Journey and Michael Jackson in all of their pixilated glory. Today, I ran across another article on one of my favorite websites which shows eleven different video games featuring musicians slashing, flying, and punching their way into video game history, or fallacy. To be honest with you, the existence of some of these games came as a total surprise to me – who would have known that The Thompson Twins actually had a video game? Only those in the UK most likely, because it was for the Sinclair Spectrum which was an 8-bit home computer that used software distributed on audio-cassette tapes. The grand idea from The Thompson Twins, was that a fan could purchase their album, record the computer code on to a cassette, and then load it onto the Spectrum. Yes, you guessed it, by all accounts the game sucked big time, but in this day and age, nothing is truly gone or forgotten with the internet being as accessible as it is – you can still play the hideous The Thompson Twins Adventure online.

• MTV’s Celebrity Deathmatch – Although a poor game, the hilarity factor more than made up for it, plus how can you go wrong with seeing the grotesque looking Marylin Manson in full S&M gear getting his ass whipped by Carrot Top?
• The Def Jam Games – Let’s also not forget that 50 Cent had a video game too
