Joseph:

The 360 is quite a bit cheaper to go home with and start playing games then the PS3.

$599.99 PS3 System
$49.99 PS3 Component Cable so you can play HDTV
$0.00 Ethernet Cable for Online Play Included
$0.00 Your cost to play games head to head
$0.00 USB Cable to recharge included
  $0.00 Wireless adapter
  59.99 1 PS3 Game
$709.97 Your total.

$399.99 360 Pro System
  $0.00 Component Cable Included
$0.00 Ethernet Cable for Online Play Included
  $0.00 Headset for talking Online
$0.00 Xbox Live Silver Download Movies, TV Shows, Games
$49.99 Your cost to play head to head
$0.00 360 Wireless controller uses standard batteries
$19.99 360 Play and Charge kit. Comes with Batt and wire.
$59.99 1 360 Game
$529.96 Your Total

Price difference is $180.01.

I have included things I felt you would need to really take advantage of each machine. Nobody wants a 360 without Xbox Live Gold, nobody wants a PS3 without HD cables, and who wants wireless controllers without rechargeable batteries. I left something’s out of both systems that aren’t needed for gaming online or off. Other options are available, example you can get the Xbox Core and save another $100.00, or you could buy the wireless adapter and spend another $100. I also left out the fact that many Xbox 360 games cost only $29.99.

I think I'm pretty close on the costs of the 2 systems.

What it really comes down to is games. Is the PS3 worth the extra money? 360 games look on par with the PS3, if they are available on both. The graphics on games available exclusively to the 360 look so much better then any available games for the PS3.

With such a small user base, the PS3 will not get 3rd party exclusive games. With a system so complex it can cost twice as much to develop for then the 360, 3rd parties are going to take a pass. With the Xbox 360 outselling the PS3 every month after the holiday season the PS3 user base is not catching up but falling further behind.

While you are looking for new content available on Blu-Ray. I’ve already watched it in HD without a High Def disk. I simply clicked and downloaded the high def movie from Xbox live. I didn’t even have to leave the comfort of my couch.

Rather have a 360 than a POS3 oops I mean a PS3, Sony is a BS company has been for 10 years or more now, their Quality is in the toilet, Exploding batteries didn't help them either, neither did being investigated by the Dept of Justice, for copying, but oh well you Sony Fan Boys seem to ignore all these facts

Got a 360 for more than 6 months, never had a freeze nor a problem, runs fine, and i'm playing it hardcore.
Lots of very good games, live works like a charm and is well done, a great console.

Well, I can offer a logical argument towards why the PS3 isn't near as bad as people say it is and why the 360 is not as great as people claim it to be. Even though I don't own the Wii I can say I have no hate towards it. It doesn't really show off next-gen graphics, but that's not everything in making a game. Anyways, on to the PS3 and 360.

The PS3 offers technologically stable hardware piece that boasts a pretty hefty tag. Considering it carries new processing and format technology it requires the extra dough to be placed back in to the company for R&D and buying contracts to keep exclusives. The PS3 loses exclusives because -you- don't buy it and support it, so that portion isn't Sony's fault...it's the consumers and I am guilty of this as well. The PS3 also offers more things than playing games, and that may either help or hurt it in the long run. The PS3 has the most potential than any of the three next-gen systems, but because of bad PR and lack of consumer support it is lacking in the sales right now.

Xbox 360 offers a similar, yet watered down, graphical experience of the PS3 and boasts an extensive software library that contains some REALLY good games. However, a good library of software and games needs to have a stable and reliable hardware case to power it. The 360 has failed on that matter. I'm not saying that the 360 is bad, but it's not the messiah of gaming that most fanboys claim it to be. The 360 has been known to burnout, destroy DVD's, catch fire, and literally just stop working from another random sequence of design flaws. A shame really because it does carry an extensive list of games and still has the best Online multiplayer system of any of the three systems.

So let's compare what is really going on.
PS3: Pros - Top hardware and graphical/processing power. Offers more than just gaming and provides the best HD format available out there.
Cons - Lack of exclusives due to consumer support. Large price tag to cover new tech, but bad PR failed to explain to the public why it was nescessary. Gaming library is still small and gamers have to wait almost a year for the good stuff.

Xbox360: Pros - Huge gaming library that boasts some really awesome games. Online service still number one in the console market. Financial backing from parent company allows easier contracts for exclusives.
Cons - Large number of defective units still coming off the production line. Online service isn't free and many of the add-ons such as the wireless adapter are overpriced. Defective units create gaming downtime and you, as the consumer spend more time waiting on a new 360 than playing the really good games and if the defect is destroying your games too then you lose out...twice.

So, thats pretty much it in a nutshell. The two systems, who are both a blast to play, carry those pros and cons. The Xbox hardware has more problems than I stated, but then again Sony has more public relations problems dealing with crappy upper management. As for the prices of the systems...they aren't really that different really. The PS3 is $599 while the 360 Elite is $475 plus the $100 wireless adaptor + the monthly fee for Xbox live.

When you compare the two systems they really aren't that different in pricing. So, try to come up with another reason why you dislike/support a certain platform.

As for me? I'm still on the fence on which of the three systems I want. I guess i'll continue my research until I finally find one that replaces the trusty PS2 I refuse to let go of.

Had mine for 6 months now with no problems. Have 3 friends who have one without one without problems. Then again, all of us know about heat problems (we're all hard-core pc gamers also) and keep our units in well ventilated areas away from other heat-generating devices. I think if this was such a big issue there would be a class-action lawsuit against ms.

i totally agree with arkanj3l

the ps3 is not worth the price, the only reason why i owuld buy it is due to it's new blue-ray reader in it....... ONLY reason why u should, the games suck. the so called wireless motion controller is a big joke compared to the Wii

for anyone reading this, Buy a Wii, free inernet, fun games, Great gaming
if u don't like the games (don't think mario is the only game plz  )

i suggest an Xbox, it has a 60% chance it breaks down after couple of months
but it's stil way better than the ps3

Yeah, that's why the PS3 is extremely overpriced and is losing the console war as of now.

And don't say the price is justified. Doing so implies you actually support the move of having no HD cable, useless extra card ports, a controller without rumble, and only two, maybe three exclusive games, with the multi platform ones running almost guaranteed worse on the PS3 (F.E.A.R. and Tony Hawk's Project 8 are good examples).

Plus a shit internet service.

No, a Second Life clone doesn't count.

Sony knows what I like? Uh, no. You know what I like? I like a console which is WORTH the money I pay for. I like GOOD games. I like fans who KNOW what they're talking about, and have GOOD grammar (John, please...).

Is the PS3 powerful? Yes. But unless that price goes down, and until it has some revolutionary killer apps, it will LOSE.

m$ was set on being the "first man out"..they created horribly unreliable hardware and it's sad that these hardcore "xbots" pretend nothings happening.

m$'s only goal was to make sure Sony didn't capture the market...they don't care about gaming, nor do they care about you, the gamer.

Everyone I know has a refurbished xbox...they all fail. m$ failed...open your eyes.
