Anime Expo 2007: Devil May Cry

Devil May Cry will definitely turn out to be a huge anime series out of Japan this year. I reported on it before and after only two episodes it has been receiving wide spread attention. It’s a little surprising that the ADV licensed the show after only two episodes. Fan reaction to the series has only been “average” at best, but the series continues to gain attention through the marketing from Capcom and the well known name. Hopefully, they will be able to pull the series up to standard after a few more episodes.
From Japanator: Today’s ADV panel at Anime Expo was short and sweet.
Their first title was Kyoshiro, followed by what was actually the biggest news, the licensing of Gurren Lagann, much to John Martone’s dismay.
They also showed Devil May Cry, a seriously fast snatch and grab seeing as who the anime is only about two episodes old. There was also mention that they we hoping to get the same voice actors to do the dub. This was also mentioned in relation to the Xenosaga anime which they are also releasing.
Naturally, there were many questions about Evangelion and its many forms, like the 10th anniversary edition which was never released and the upcoming new films and live action version. Of course, they had next to nothing to say about any of it, other than a quick hint at another possible EVA re-release.
