i said i wouldnt get this game, but i bet its gonna be one of those HALO 3 type games, its a must own. and i never was a Halo fan. im waiting for Battlefield Bad company. as for choosing what console the 360 had the extra dlc for those that want it. and the online service is better. How ever for a console stability? PS3 anyday.

GTA IV will move systems. and cause some xbox 360s to over heat. as for the article, both systems win with GTA IV.

Just wanted to say, I own both a PS3 and 360. In fact, I owned a PS3 before a 360 because I *was* a bit of a ps3 fanboy. Not a big fan of Microsoft and all their BS overcharging for downloadable content and such. When it came time to decide which system to buy GTA4 for, I went with 360. Why? Because of Xbox Live. Sure you will be able to play online with the PS3 version, but Microsoft’s Xbox Live community is so much better than Sony’s online offering. I have read that 360 has more texture pop ins and the anti-aliasing on ps3 is supposedly a little better, but the difference is supposed to be hardly noticeable. It’s a small price to pay for a better online play system. My other gripe is that I like the ps3 controller much more than 360, but again, the online play offered by 360 still trumps.

What’s the fuss over GTA4 anyway. sure GTA has had it’s moments but it’s not a big thing for me. Far Cry 2, GT5 please.

Lol, i’ve left my ps3 on all night aswell, in an enclosed space with a dvd recorder and a sky+ box underneath it, so there was very little room for it to breath (I didn’t realise i’d left it on of course) and when i came down the next morning i saw it on and freaked, turned on the tv and it was on the xmb, running quite peacefully. Started playing it for a few hours then turned it off, it was damn hot… but it didn’t RROD (YLOD), it didn’t disc read error, and i didn’t have to pay to play online. (okay so i was having a dig with the last 1)

@mike sounds like you may want to move your 360 somewhere else. like not in the oven. my ps3 overheats if i play it for more than a couple hours but my 360 in the same place can go all day and often does. ive had both systems since launch and only had overheating issues with the ps3.

stupid eddie murphy movies. Anyway ill have to agree that the game will certainly move more ps3 units, just from the upgrade angle. Theres what, 120 million units of the ps2 sold to date, so im sure at least several million will upgrade to the ps3 for this one.

i got a 360 and a ps3,my 360 overheats when i play for more than 2 hrs,my ps3 never overheats and one time i left it on for a day cuz i accidently turned the ps3 on and went to work.i now i will buy the PS3 gta4 version,the only thing that 360 will have is 2 more missions to download,ps3 will get does missions in 1 or 2 months.

PC gamers have it bad. we can wait for the (much better and you know it) PC version, or we can sell out and get a console (like i had to do with San An) to play it.

Now a used 360 is $199.99. A used Ps3 is $349.99. Not a hard choice. Then again, when you factor in the probability of a RRoD you might not want to gamble, and if you don’t then it’s PS3 for you.

Anyway, yeah, puchasers of GTAIV who own both consoles may lean towards the 360 but I’m certain that just a month or so ago there was some report out on NPD that showed that only TWO PERCENT of gamers own “at least 2 consoles”. So in reality, the competition for sales between xbox and ps owners is negligible at best. Contrary to popular opinion the VAST majority of gamers own only one system.

What does this mean? Potentially 2 things. First, that the 360 should sell a lot of units simply because the US install base is much larger and we’ve shown that most of those 360 owners do not have the option to buy it on PS3. Second, since the PS3 install base is much smaller and since most gamers only own one console, you can bet a lot of gamers will be changing that one console from a PS2 to a PS3.

The discussion is about which console will benefit in sales more than the other so what exactly does that have to do with a guy who already owns both consoles choosing to buy it on the 360?

I’m certain that most people who own both consoles will buy the 360 version but I’m also ceratin that the game will sell far more PS3’s than 360’s which is what Pachter is saying.
