@Joe Blow: Errr…. yeah… constructive comments are a virture. And just as an FYI, compared to the 360, IF the PS3 were priced at $399 now, it would completely dominate console sales of the high-def generation. Note, this is an IF–as in, if it were $399 now, this woul be the case.

I dont think they will drop the price to 399$ i think they will drop the 80’s to 499$ soon as the stock of 60’s clears….

Yes, King, that’s the case, except that happened a good while ago. The 60gb models are $499 as is, and the 80 is $599…. however in seven months, it is predicted that the 80gb model will lower to $399.

And to Joelteon, sorry if I made a mistake of how it was made for casual gamers. What I meant to say was that it was designed to appeal to a very wide demographic group of gamers. Sorry for the mixup.

i heard it was 100 price job for ps3 60 and th 80 gig would be the price 599

Aristotle, don’t make the mistake that the Wii was designed for casual gamer’s; it was designed to be different, which inherently made it more appealing to the masses. I consider my self something of a slightly ‘harder’ gamer (though what that term means now I’m not 100% sure) and I have a Wii.

Whatever, for the sake of competition, I think it would be prudent for Sony to do this. That way, once the technology becomes more main-stream, production will reduce in costs and it should be a little bit better for them to produce.

Indeed things would become interesting. If they lower the price that significantly, I may even trade in my 60gb version for one of the newer updated 80gb ones.

Already the PS3 outclasses the Xbox 360 in hardware stability and gut-rendering performance (remember the article about the PS3 being able to perform 50+ hours in a sauna?) as far as graphics and processing (let Motorstorm and Warhawk be a prime example), I could only speculate what sort of damage it would do to the 360’s market… not so worried about the Wii though, since the Wii was designed for the casual gamer.

I mean, with all of the add-ons you need for the 360 (HDD, HD-DVD, that cooler system to keep it from overheating, extra towel…), its price brings it right around $400 to $500 already–wheras the PS3 has all of that included.

This sounds about right. Certainly, they need to do it, sooner than later. If they could pull this off before the holidays, things would get really interesting.
