ice age Amazons Summer Blu ray Blowout SaleIn an attempt to encourage people to stay indoors this summer, Amazon is having a huge sale on tons of Blu-ray movies, with savings up to 50% off! (Imagine one of those old-school Batman “KABLAM” images popped up as you read that.) There are 116 titles in total to choose from, and it’s far from a garbage bin.

Blade Runner, The Fifth Element and 300 are the first three titles listed, and you’ll also find the Die Hard movies, Lethal Weapon, Men of Honor, Ice Age, and more.

It’s definitely a good opportunity to stock up on your Blu-ray selection, although some of the deals — like 43% off Ice Age – The Meltdown, which ends up still being $23 — aren’t as good as others.

Blade Runner: 5 Disc Special Edition – $19.95

I really don’t see why people got rid of their HD-DVD players. It’s still HD, even if it’s not supported anymore officially. You can still get good movies for it. And they’re cheaper now.

Unfortunately, I don’t have an HDTV, or I’d have to check out this sale. As well as the bargain bin that the HDDVDs got thrown into.

I haven’t gotten rid of my HD DVD player, but I’m not actively seeking to increase my collection. I’d much rather get Blu-rays, because as more people get Blu-ray players, I’d like to be able to bring those movies to their houses rather than an HD DVD they don’t have a player for.
