Alienware Unveils Curved Monitor

At CES 2008, Alienware unveiled a new monitor that could offer a new level of immersion for PC gamers. Simply put, it’s a curved widescreen monitor with 2880 x 900 resolution. It’s actually four monitors put together with some hint of the seams in between, though the developers promise that issue will be erased by the time the monitor ships later this year. Still, I wouldn’t be too surprised if this became a new trend of sorts with other gaming-focused companies. You can also see a video of the monitor in action at Gizmodo (link below).
It certainly looks cool, but there’s one thing that worries me: the headache factor. Being completely surrounded by a game for long stretches of time seems like a good way to have your brain go into shock after pulling yourself away. It’s the same reason I never go to an IMAX theater with a curved screen anymore.

Also worth mentioning is it uses DLP technology.
OMG…
This may very well be the next best thing since sliced bread.
I must have one.
I wonder how 2girls1cup will look on that bad boy…
…oh yea…I went there..
2girls1cup is child’s play. BME Pain Olympics on that bad boy…. oh yeah, I went THERE
I must have one though, but i feel most games won’t support that insane resolution
I just threw up on my keyboard.
Thanks a lot.
