Still waiting around for a release date to be announced for Alan Wake? Keep waiting because one has not been announced as of yet; however there is news regarding the game and the news is grim for XP users. Alan Wake will be Vista exclusive. Not only is this a blow to gamers who have yet to make the change, those who prefer to use DX10 over DX9 will be in for a disappointment as well – support for DX10 is a secret at this point. Ok, so maybe those who prefer DX10 should not get upset just yet, but just keep that information in the back of your mind until the game lands because no one is saying which of the two will be used.
According to a recent interview with PC Games Hardware, Markus Maki, the director of development for Remedy stated in no uncertain terms that: “It is best to consider Alan Wake to be a Vista exclusive game… [and]…. We haven’t announced a release date yet – we are a small team that is focused on delivering an amazing game experience, and that requires time and patience”
While Maki is not committed to any certain release window, Microsoft on the other hand, has stated that the RPG will be available for the Xbox 360 this year. Well, it is still early in the year, so it is safe to say that both versions should indeed be ready within the foreseeable future. Don’t you just love evasive answers like that?
Now on to the DX9/10 Alan Wake news: Maki declined to answer any questions regarding whether DX10 or DX9 will be supported so users of both should just sit back an relax until an official answer is finally given. You can read the full interview on the PC Games Hardware site.
Thanks: PC Games Hardware, CVG

Wasn’t Alan Wake also supposed to come out for the 360? Was that nixed or is it still happening?
Yes, it still is, Microsoft promised it would hit sometime this year, but Maki will not give a concrete release date for either version as of yet. He is the King of evasiveness
“While Maki is not committed to any certain release window, Microsoft on the other hand, has stated that the RPG will be available for the Xbox 360 this year.”
Learn to read Daniel lol
FUCK.
I really don’t want to buy Vista
“It is best to consider Alan Wake to be a Vista exclusive game”
That’s not really the same as saying it wont work on XP. They might just do what was done with Crysis where they made the highest graphical settings only available on a Vista install with DX10, but you can access them in XP if you know how
